We are seeking a candidate with experience in U.S. Military Radio Frequency (RF) Line-of-Sight Communication Systems, beyond Line-of-Sight Communication Systems and associated interfaces and computer control equipment that support Tactical Data Link Systems. The Communication Systems Specialist should be able to assess and analyze the Radio Frequency communications and Multi-TDL architecture performance to support the potential corrective actions or resolutions required and to provide information regarding new equipment acquisition. They will be responsible for providing hardware and software system engineering, Installation and Check-out (INCO), operation, and troubleshooting support for Multi-functional Information Distribution System (MIDS) Low Volume Terminal (LVT) and associated mini-rack equipment. CORE FUNCTIONS / JOB DUITES Ability to perform the following, with some supervision: Install, configure, and maintain radio, microwave, and communications systems hardware and firmware. Program, optimize, and repair radios and associated communications equipment. Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot issues with radio and communications systems and equipment and provide appropriate feedback to internal and external stakeholders. Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and equipment inventory. Provide technical support and assist customers with radio sand communication system operations for daily use and in support of various test events, including off-site support as needed. Use various test analyzers and related troubleshooting equipment. Provide input to pre-test and post-test documentation (e.g. Test Plan, Test Procedures, automated scripts, Daily Status Reports (DSR), Quick Look Reports (QLR), and Test Reports. Assist in the planning and coordination of working groups and day to day operations on radio/communication systems Test & Evaluation (T&E) and development efforts. Assist in the development of design plans based on site surveys supporting installation & integration of various radios and communication systems. SKILLS & ABILITIES Minimum of three (3) years of experience and a basic knowledge of: Radio, microwave, and communication systems, test equipment, and electronic components DoD regulations and industry standards Various tools and test instruments used in performing maintenance and repair of electronic equipment Navy Line of Sight (LOS) and and Beyond Line of Sight (BLOS) communication systems including: Digital Modular Radio (DMR), PSC-5D, PRC-117, WSC-3, TD-1271 DAMA, WSC-9, USC-38. Experience with Integrated Waveform/Mobile User Objective System (IW/MUOS): Line-Of-Site (LOS) Antennas; OE-82 or OE-570 SATCOM Antennas; High Frequency (HF); Very High Frequency (VHF); Ultra High Frequency (UHF); Single Channel Ground and Airborne Radio System (SINCGARS); HAVE QUICK; Air Traffic Control (ATC); Demand Assigned Multiple Access (DAMA), and Non-DAMA; Tactical Variant Switch (TVS); High Frequency Distribution Amplifier Group (HFDAG); and AN/USQ-145, MD-1324. EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS GED and/or equivalent years of experience TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS General office environment Computer/Equipment lab PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS May be expected to lift up to 25 lbs Frequent use of keyboard and typing Frequent sitting and standing WORK SCHEDULE 9/80 The ability to work non-standard work hours and schedules in support of project requirements. PAY RANGE $80,000.00 to 100,000.00 annually, DOE U.S. Citizenship is Required SECURITY CLEARANCE Candidates must have an active clearance OR the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance and will be subject to a US security background investigation (i.e. favorable background investigation / credit score). Additional eligibility requirements for access to various levels of classified information may also be required. An active security clearance is highly desirable.
