The Commissary Kitchen Our Commissary Kitchen (also known as "the Lab", located at
802 Walsh Road, Madison, WI 53714) is a high-volume production kitchen that serves our Wisconsin locations. The Lab is producing all of the salad dressings, pizza sauces, and toppings for those pies and salads that we're famous for. Shift Lead Job Duties and Expectations You oversee all aspects of the shift, ensuring accurate and timely production, product quality, order fulfillment, produce ordering, and staffing. You direct and delegate work to general staff members, while also maintaining proper staffing and cut/add labor as appropriate. You ensure each station is upholding Ian's Standards for food safety, product quality, cleanliness, and stocking/organization.
As far as administrative tasks, you need to track the ongoing development of employee performance on shift, use store administrative/organizational tools such as Google Docs, Sheets and Gmail, and attend Team and Lab Leadership meetings.
Requirements - 1+ years of experience working in prep or production kitchens or catering required.
- Cross-trained in, or have a solid understanding of, all production kitchen positions: fresh prep (vegetables), production prep (meats, sauces), delivery, and dishwashing.
- Able to train and motivate people through training.
- English proficiency is required. Spanish proficiency is a big bonus.
- ServeSafe certification is not required, but it helps.
- Able to stand and walk for long periods.
- Able to bend, crouch, and able to lift 50lbs repeatedly.

Scheduling and Availability Our Commissary Kitchen operates on the following schedule: Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays from 6:00AM - 10:00PM and Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays from 6:00AM - 2:00PM.
We're currently seeking team members with flexible and open availability. Ideal candidates will be available for the following required shifts:
- 1-2 afternoon/evening shifts per week (12:00PM - 10:00PM on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays)
- At least 2 Saturday shifts per month (6:00AM - 2:00PM)
Part-time (anywhere in the 15-30 hours a week range) or full-time (30-40 hours a week) is available. We'll try our hardest to give you the hours and shifts you want, but we can't promise the same schedule every week. For full-timers though, we'll make sure you average 30-40 hours each week to ensure your health and dental benefits eligibility.
