Commercial Junior Property Accountant Location: The Woodlands, TX Pay: $60,000 - $65,000 MUST HAVE COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE ACCOUNTING EXPERIENCE Position Summary: The Junior Property Accountant will be responsible for commercial property accounting and preparing and analyzing monthly and quarterly financial reports. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: (including, but not limited to, the following activities) Perform month-end close process, including preparation of account reconciliations, journal entries, account analysis and monthly financial statement review for property portfolio. Review and approve accounts payable invoices. Perform quarterly financial variance analysis and lender requirements. Coordinate with external auditors/lenders for quarterly reviews and year-end audit. Maintains open communication with accounting team and property managers. Prepare journal entries and maintain the general ledger. Reconcile monthly bank statements to the general ledger. Assist in preparation and review of common area maintenance and real estate tax reconciliations. Assist in review and preparation of annual property budgets. Special projects and other duties as needed. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Solid understanding of accounting processes. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and related products. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting REQUIRED. 2-4 years of commercial property management accounting experience required. Must be deadline focused, organized, and exhibit problem-solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication Strong analytical and organizational skills. Interact effectively as part of a team. Handle a dynamic work environment with competing priorities. Build positive working relationships with employees at all levels within the organization. Exercise sound judgment when making decisions. Able to meet deadlines as necessary. Good problem solver/creative thinker. "Can-do" attitude, pro-active and resourceful. Experience with MRI, Yardi, Timeberline and Avid Vendor pay, or other real estate accounting software is a plus. QUALIFICATIONS: Proficiency in computer skills and knowledge of office software packages (Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint) The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and able to handle multiple projects. Also, be high-energy, self-disciplined, driven, and able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing and communicate with co-workers and clients professionally and courteously.
