A Plumber, or Plumbing Technician, is a skilled tradesperson in charge of installing, inspecting and repairing pipes and plumbing systems to make sure all of a building's, unit's, or home's fixtures operate correctly. Duties include finding the source of leaks and blockages, fixing or replacing broken parts, installing equipment, fixtures and appliances, and testing the plumbing system.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of plumbing and/or drain system maintenance, service, and labor productivity techniques
- Trade experience as a plumber or plumber's apprentice with understanding of current field/code regulations
- Ability to relate to team members of all skill levels and abilities
- Positive attitude toward relationship building and management
- Attention to detail
- A high school diploma or GED
- Effective and efficient time management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in client and co-worker relations
- Operate all vehicles and equipment in a safe manner according to law and codes, operator skills are a plus
- Knowledge of federal, state, local codes
