The Commercial Litigation Trial Paralegal will support attorneys in all phases of commercial litigation, with a primary focus on trial preparation and case management. This position requires experience with case strategy, discovery, motions, exhibits, and trial support. The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational skills and a proven track record of supporting complex litigation matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive litigation support from case inception through trial, including pre-trial preparation, discovery, depositions, and trial support.
- Assist attorneys in preparing for trial by organizing case materials, preparing trial notebooks, and preparing exhibits for presentation in court.
- Draft and file legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery requests, responses, and subpoenas.
- Coordinate discovery processes, including the collection, organization, and review of documents, managing e-discovery, and assisting in document productions.
- Prepare summaries of depositions, witness statements, and expert reports.
- Assist in trial preparation, including the organization of exhibits, deposition designations, trial timelines, and witness lists.
- Act as a liaison between clients, witnesses, experts, and opposing counsel to facilitate the flow of information and ensure that deadlines are met.
- Manage case calendars and deadlines, ensuring compliance with court rules and procedural requirements.
- Attend trial, assist with trial logistics, manage exhibits, and assist in presenting materials to the court and jury.
- Maintain accurate case files and ensure all documentation is organized and easily accessible.
- Research legal procedures and provide case law and statutory support for litigation matters.
- Assist in settlement negotiations and prepare settlement documents as needed.
- Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and experts, providing regular updates on case progress.
- Perform general administrative duties, including organizing meetings, client communications, and document management.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a paralegal in commercial litigation or trial support.
- Strong understanding of commercial litigation processes, including federal and state court rules, trial preparation, and e-discovery.
- Proficient in legal research and drafting legal documents, including motions, discovery, and pleadings.
- Hands-on experience with trial preparation and presenting materials in court.
- Familiarity with legal software, case management platforms, and document management systems (e.g., Relativity, iManage, or similar programs).
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple complex cases simultaneously.
- Attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to interact professionally with clients, experts, and attorneys.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with a team.
- High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion.
- Experience with case management systems and e-discovery platforms is a plus.
