Position: Commercial Director
Location: Winchester with hybrid working available
Salary: 120k+ (Neg DOE), car/allowance, bonus and excellent benefits package
Our Client: Is an integrated design and build solution provider operating in the water sector. They have over 1,000 staff working across eight regional centres, primarily supporting eight long term water sector frameworks operating both on their own and increasingly in joint ventures and alliances.
The Role: Our client is looking to strengthen their Commercial team with a Senior Commercial Manager/Commercial Director based in the Southern Water Region. The purpose of this role is to commercially manage a large project valued at circa 150m on which you will provide commercial support and leadership and ensure that the project is delivered within budget and in a timely manner.
Responsibilities: Strategic Planning: Develop and implement commercial strategies in line with company objectives.
Contract Management: Oversee contract negotiations, ensuring that contracts are in the best interests of our client.
Risk Management: Identify commercial risks and proactively mitigate them.
Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
Change Management: Identify contract changes and proactively mitigate them.
Financial Oversight: Manage budgets, ensure cost efficiency, and drive profitability.
Team Leadership: Mentor, guide, and supervise the commercial team to achieve departmental goals.
Experience: Proven experience in a commercial management role, preferably within the water sector.
Experience of managing projects valued in excess of 100m to a successful outcome.
BSc or HND in Quantity Surveying or other equivalent construction related subject
Professionally qualified to RICS, ICES or CIOB.
In depth knowledge and experience in managing NEC, PSC and ECC contracts with the client and supply chain.
In depth commercial and financial process & systems understanding, preferably in a contracting environment, of large scale multi-million-pound capital construction projects
Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
Proficient in contract management and risk assessment.
Experience in a similar role with senior management responsibilities
Proven ability in delivering business objectives at a strategic level
Proven experience in developing best practice
Ability to shape the future commercial delivery strategy
Able to demonstrate strong leadership capability
