Job Title: ESTIMATOR
Department: Pre-Construction and Estimating
Position Summary:
To grow the company by achieving sales and profitability objectives for new projects and clientele through comprehensive cost estimating and project award. The Estimator will accomplish this under general direction of the company's owner and senior operations staff.
Job Scope:
The Estimator is responsible for estimating the cost of projects, developing itemized expense lists based on personnel and materials needed, and collaborating with project designers and owners to explain cost findings. The Estimator also performs calculations and research to develop ways to reduce overall project costs. He/she is responsible for fostering relationships with vendors in order to establish lower pricing for products or services. Additionally, the Estimator participates in the request for proposal (RFP) process.
Essential Functions:
- Support all aspects of subcontractor and supplier estimating and bidding processes.
- Process RFP, RFQ, and internal pricing request and facilitate broadcast announcements of bidding opportunity.
- Competently draft, proof, audit, and deliver both private and public proposals.
- Work with PMs, Marketing, and other staff - coordinating contributions from all into Proposals.
- Qualify sub-tier bids for completeness and compliance.
- Ensure company compliance with bidding regulations and goals of each project.
- Develop, prepare, coordinate, and execute presentations and proposals to existing or new clients.
- Work on multiple company bids simultaneously and deliver in accordance with deadline objectives.
- Operate and maintain proficiency in all internal estimating systems, technologies, and software.
- Minimize exposure and risk by implementing quality assurance controls in estimating. Promptly report changes (discoveries) in scope and revenue to senior management.
- Identify and execute strategic opportunities within proposal to optimize Z Constructors' position in securing the work.
Secondary Functions:
- Assist Project Executives/Managers with the procurement of subcontractors and suppliers.
- Assist project management staff with written "scopes of work" to be included in subcontract.
- Assist in presentation of relevant bidding and award information to project management staff necessary for start-up and seamless transition from estimating to field operations, through document transfer and formal discussion.
- Assist PMs and APMs with analyzing and evaluating cost impact quantification for changes to company's contract scope.

- Working knowledge of building systems, site work, engineering principles and construction costs
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering or related field
- Minimum 4 years of preconstruction and/or estimating experience in general contracting
- Experience in healthcare, commercial development and tenant finish-out projects
