ART Inc provides arts education opportunities to nearly 500 students and teaching artist each year. The staff, board, volunteers, and teaching artists of ART Inc work tirelessly to generate programs for all students to imagine, create, and realize their full potential through the arts, regardless of their ability to pay

Job Description

The College and Career Coordinator is primarily responsible for implementing and supporting workforce programs at ART Inc., including collaborating with internal and external stakeholders that create, sponsor, and administer programs focusing on increasing participants from minoritized populations and preparing them for high-demand careers. This customer-facing position will develop and deliver readiness programs using an innovative competency-based learning curriculum to enhance employability skills, recruit for and coordinate these programs and services, and provide case management for participants to ensure their success. The College and Career Coordinator will ensure participants are fully prepared to transition to additional certificate programs and/or employment at local high-demand jobs. This is a Part-Time position working 2-6pm, M-F.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Implement grant-sponsored programs aimed at increasing employment skills among unemployed, underemployed, and economically disadvantaged populations to prepare participants for local high-demand jobs.

2. Instruct workforce program curricula, which may include lecture and lab-based classes, reading and math, social and emotional learning, financial and digital literacy, and essential employability skills.

3. Serve as lead instructor for non-credit workforce programs by monitoring learning environments, conducting regular assessments, and evaluating program services.

4. Coordinate end-to-end processes that implement workforce programs, including customer-facing activities supporting recruitment, placement, retention, and case management for workforce participants.

5. Collaborate with workforce instructors, staff, and leadership to continuously improve and adapt the participant experience to meet the needs of the student, community, institution, and funder.

6. Maintain internal and external partnerships in support of program and institution outcomes.

7. Gather, maintain, and analyze data necessary to achieve grant outcomes.

8. Participate in the development of departmental goals and strategic plans that support the institutional vision while addressing gaps in workforce skills.

9. Provide strategic consultation on workforce programs.

10. Perform related duties as required.

Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

• Experience working with students, college, and career plans

• Experience working with individuals of diverse backgrounds.

• Knowledge and experience of college and career

• Experience working in adult education, employment, social work, or training

• Experience working with multiple software and technologies platforms and systems.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

• Valid driver's license.

• Experience working in adult education, employment, social work, or training.

• Experience working with underrepresented populations, dislocated workers, or other workforce programs.

• Knowledge of, or experience in, one or more of the following: Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma, Information Technology, Construction, and/or Health Careers.

Supervisor Relationship:

The person designated to provide supervision of the Programs & Education Coordinator and from whom the Programs & Education Coordinator takes direction in all matters relating to carrying out the duties and responsibilities described in this position description is the Program Director.

Work Environment:

This position is multi-site, meaning that work generally takes place in multiple locations and requires independent travel to 4-8 Peoria Public School locations

Mental and Physical Requirements:

Physical effort is light, with lifting or carrying limited to 25 pounds intermittently as well as walking up and down stairs. Work will include giving tours (3 flights of stairs) and making presentations in front of groups. Occasionally, there is pressure associated with project or activity deadlines. Work will require extended use of a computer keyboard and monitor.
