Great Oak Varsity Coaching Job DescriptionVarsity CoachJob Description: Position is responsible for all aspects of the sport program including coaching student athletes in game strategies and techniques to prepare them for athletic competition and motivates student athletes to develop an appreciation of the sport.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
- In-depth knowledge and experience in sport.
- Minimum three years high school varsity coaching experience
- Ability to obtain a valid CPR/First Aid card, SS card, and mandatory coaching application requirements.
Duties: - Ensures all coaches at all levels of the program have been cleared through the district before interacting with student athletes.
- Ensures all players have been cleared by the Athletic Department in respect to district and CIF requirements before participation.
- Assesses players' skills and assigns team positions.
- Develops a regular practice schedule and organizes practice time to provide both individual and team development.
- Works with the Athletic Director in scheduling facilities for practices and competition in a timely manner.
- Assigns duties to an assistant coach as necessary.
- Coaches and instructs players, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
- Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior and provides proper supervision of athletes at all times.
- Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete's injury.
- Follows state, regional, and district regulations governing the athletic program.
- Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.
- Participates in special activities to include parent nights, banquets, award nights, and assemblies.
- Maintains eligibility forms, emergency data cards, equipment inventory, and other related records.
- Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Principal & Athletic Director or other appropriate administrator.
