Are you a Digital Fabrication Specialist seasoned in navigating a fast-paced, creative landscape? Can you adeptly handle a range of CNC platforms, from routers to lasers and plasma, and even 3D printing? Are you passionate about maintaining machines and ensuring shop safety?

The CNC Operator / Digital Fabrication Specialist is the cornerstone of our fabrication and installation team, responsible for orchestrating the operation of various CNC platforms for digital fabrication projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate a variety of CNC and robotic platforms within the workshop (3- and 5-axis machines, laser, plasma, 3D printing, etc)
  • Create, edit, and run CNC cut files and machine code (MasterCAM) for diverse project needs
  • Manipulate 2D and 3D models for machining and design of custom tooling/fixtures
  • Perform equipment maintenance and repairs to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime
  • Follow and prioritize safety protocols to ensure a safe work environment
  • Ensure precision and consistency between physical output and digital designs
  • Conduct quality checks to ensure components meet exact design specifications
  • Track and manage inventory of CNC-related materials to ensure availability and reduce waste
  • Utilize the latest technology, tools, software, and workflows. Must be comfortable learning and adapting to new tech as we continuously upgrade our systems.
  • Support production planning by collaborating with the fabrication director and other departments
  • Independently solve technical issues and develop machining strategies for complex parts
  • Traveling install support as needed
Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of experience as CNC operator, digital fabrication, or commercial additive manufacturing
  • Strong experience in CAD/CAM programming and foam cutting
  • Proficiency in MasterCAM, RhinoCAM
  • Proven track record of successful operation of 3-axis and 5-axis CNC machines
  • Solid understanding of standard milling and turning, and general machine shop practices
  • Experience in machine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair
  • Experience designing and programming custom jigs, fixtures, and toolpaths
  • Forklift or heavy machinery certification is a plus
