Job Title: CNC Programmer
Contract Duration: 6+ Months
Pay range: $20 - $40/hr
Location: Syracuse, NY
Schedule: 8 - 4:30 pm

Summary of Position:
  • This position is accountable for developing work holding fixtures, CNC programs, and tool layouts in support of the implementation of new equipment in a factory setting.
  • The CNC Programmer's focus will be on converting products from a manual operation to CNC automation utilizing Okuma horizontal mill machines.
Principal Accountabilities
  • The CNC Programmer will lead the ramp-up of new CNC equipment by creating programs and workholding fixtures.
  • Identify and order new tooling for the creation or improvement of programs as required.
  • Design new jigs, tools, and fixtures, and provide technical direction to production personnel.
  • Supervise the validation of new program roll-out and communicate the process effectively with engineers, quality, and production personnel.
  • The CNC Programmer collaborates daily with manufacturing engineers concerning machining and operational challenges.
  • Highlight quality problems relative to the conversion of products to CNC-based machining and provide technical direction to implement corrective actions and error proofing.
  • Train CNC machine operators on new machining technologies as needed.

  • Be proactive in developing machine programs. Work collaboratively to obtain the best results for the company and maximize the use of resources.
  • Understand and abide by a high standard of professional ethics to ensure the integrity of the department and the work performed.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience is required with proven ability in writing programs for CNC machining centers and developing work holding fixtures.
  • 4 years of experience in supporting a manufacturing environment
  • Experience using SolidWorks, Mastercam, AutoCad, and experienced in G-code.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future
  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2 years technical degree or appropriate certificate from a college or trade school with a focus on CNC machining.
  • 7 years of experience is required with proven ability in writing programs for CNC machining centers and developing work holding fixtures.
  • 5 years of experience in supporting a manufacturing environment
  • Experience using SolidWorks, Mastercam, AutoCad, and experienced in G-code.
  • Experience programming Okuma horizontal machining centers.
  • Union experience
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future
