The ideal candidate will have deep experience in 5-axis programming, a strong understanding of GD&T, and the ability to optimize tool paths for efficiency and precision.
Key Responsibilities: - Develop and optimize CNC programs for 5-axis milling centers based on engineering drawings, 3D models, and customer specifications.
- Select tools, cutting parameters, and fixturing strategies to ensure dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and production efficiency.
- Conduct simulations and toolpath verifications to minimize programming errors and potential machine collisions.
- Collaborate with engineers, machinists, and quality assurance personnel to support first-article inspections and production runs.
- Interpret blueprints, GD&T symbols, and 3D CAD models to ensure all requirements are met.
- Troubleshoot machining issues related to programming, setup, and tooling.
- Maintain documentation of CNC programs, setup instructions, and tooling sheets.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives, including cycle time reductions, scrap reduction, and process reliability enhancements.
- Stay current with advancements in CAM software, cutting tools, and machining strategies.
Qualifications: - High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical certification in machining or manufacturing technology preferred.
- Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on experience in CNC programming for 5-axis milling machines.
- Proficiency with CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Siemens NX, SolidCAM, or similar).
- Solid understanding of G-code, M-code, and machine tool functions.
- Strong knowledge of materials (e.g., aluminum, stainless steel, titanium) and cutting tool technologies.
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
