CNC Programmer Indianapolis (onsite)

Peerless Pump, an Indianapolis based subsidiary of Grundfos, is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer (machining) to join its Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Team.

The CNC Programmer will provide manufacturing support for Production, Engineering and Quality to utilize materials, machines, and man-power to the fullest extent while maximizing throughput and quality. This position reports directly to the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Manager and will operate daily out of the Indianapolis facility (Mon-Fri).

Relocation for this position cannot be supported and qualified candidates must have authorization to work in the USA without support.

What is the job about?

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
  • Constantly controls operating expenses by finding causes of waste and taking action to eliminate needless damage to material, tools and equipment, controlling scrap, etc
  • Requisitions for special tools, tool holders, fixtures, supplies, to meet production needs.
  • Cooperates with all other areas within the organization and keeps the right people informed by maintaining a proper flow of information up and down the organization, using reports, keeping records, facilitating and attending meetings, discussing problems and information with others, etc.
  • Perform work, promote teamwork, and communicate in conjunction with our culture and corporate standards (Safety, Quality, Communication, internal Controls, etc.).
  • Creates/optimizes programs using G&M codes, selects proper tooling, works closely with shop floor personnel, creates setup sheets, reads and interprets blueprints, and provides support to Manufacturing Engineers.
  • Ability to work independently, stand for extended periods, work extra hours when required, strong attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
Key Success Factors
  • Language skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Mathematical Skills: Must have the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Reasoning ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • CAM/CAM: Must have CAD/CAM experience using probing cycles for mulit-axis lathes and mills.
  • Provide training and support of shop floor personnel.
Working conditions

Will require working in both conditioned and non-conditioned environments, working with machine tools, and at times in noisy areas.

What do you need to apply?

We imagine you have:
  • Minimum 5 years experience programming multi-axis mills lathes, and machine centers.
  • Background in machining various metallurgies including stainless, Inconel, Hastalloy, and titanium.
  • Experience with multiple machine tools
  • Experience programming with probing cylces.
  • Competencies:
  • Good oral and written communication, quality minded, and desire for continuous improvement to improve processes.
