CNC Machinist Responsibilities
- Exemplifies strong work ethic, positive attitude, and teamwork, reporting to daytime lead, shop foreman, and GM.
- Enforces shop policies and help mentor a team of 30-40 machinists, fostering a learning environment.
- Available to answer questions, solve problems, and provide constructive feedback, including annual reviews and disciplinary actions.
- Sets up and operates CNC Mills and Lathes, selecting and securing fixtures, tools, and materials, and using precision instruments to meet tolerance requirements.
- Ensures machines are cleaned, maintained, and logs are updated monthly, reporting issues to maintenance personnel.
- Continuously optimizes machine and personnel performance.
- Stays updated on machine and tooling technologies.
- Coordinates with foreman and leads for labor transitions.
- Manages supplies and inventories, working with Procurement Management.
- Designs jigs, fixtures, and templates to enhance production efficiency.
- Improves established practices to maximize department productivity.
CNC Machinist Qualifications:
- 5 years' experience of CNC machining and Mastercam programming, preferably with 2 in a leadership role.
- Formal machining training and completion of coursework from an accredited trade school is preferred.
- Knowledge of GD&T (ASME 14.5-2009) and welding symbols.
- Experience with AS9102B First Article Inspection Reports.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 & AS9100 quality management systems
- Strong programming, problem solving, analytical, mathematical, mechanical, planning, organizations, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Mechanically inclined and metallurgy knowledge; knowledge of geometry and Basic Trig.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs safely, maneuver material pallet jack throughout shop and use grinders.
- Punctual and able to commit to a 40-hour work week plus regular overtime available.
- Hardworking and reliable.
