Job Description
Job Title: Applications Engineer

Classification: Non-Exempt

Travel Requirement: 50-75%

Salary Range: $85,000 - $130,000 annually

Job Overview: The Applications Engineer works under the guidance of senior colleagues to provide engineering support for CNC machines. This role involves generating CNC programs, setting up machines, and ensuring quality part processing. The engineer will also compile fixtures for demos, conduct time estimates, and communicate with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform application engineering tasks under supervision.
  • Participate in training activities, both internally and externally.
  • Prepare fixtures and workholding for demos, test cuts, and turnkey projects.
  • Conduct time estimates for customer parts processing.
  • Calculate optimal speeds and feeds for part production.
  • Utilize CAPPS conversational programming, CAM systems, and G-Code/Macro programming to generate CNC programs.
  • Set up CNC machines with programs, tooling, workpieces, and fixtures.
  • Inspect finished parts for quality and accuracy.
  • Generate engineering reports and maintain technical documentation.
  • Communicate regularly with internal teams, customers, and suppliers.
Qualifications:
  • BS Degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering or a related field preferred.
  • 0-2 years of related experience.
  • Knowledge in part processing, metal cutting, CNC programming, and machine setup.
  • Basic understanding of metallurgy.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with both internal and external customers.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work a 40-hour week, with occasional overtime as needed.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Work Environment: The role involves exposure to manufacturing and machining environments, which may include hazards such as noise, electricity, chemicals, and heavy machinery, as well as a general office setting.

Physical Demands:
  • Frequent travel, vehicle operation, and physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting.
  • Periodic use of power equipment and computer work at a desk.
  • Occasional lifting or moving of objects up to 50 lbs.
