Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cloud Systems Operations Lead to support Marine Corps IT systems. This is a technical, customer-facing role responsible for managing existing systems operations while guiding the transition to cloud-based infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in system operations, cloud architecture, and team leadership, and must be comfortable interfacing with both technical and executive-level stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage day-to-day operations of Marine Corps IT systems, ensuring system uptime, performance, and compliance.
  • Provide strategic guidance on cloud service offerings (AWS, Azure, GCP), including architecture patterns, deployment models, cost, and security implications.
  • Work cross-functionally with Task Order leads (e.g., Cybersecurity) to support program requirements and execute projects.
  • Plan and oversee cloud migration strategies and post-migration support.
  • Ensure the integrity and functionality of hardware, software, and network systems; monitor system performance and resolve issues proactively.
  • Implement and manage security protocols including patching for both NIPR and SIPR networks.
  • Coordinate system backups, disaster recovery plans, and continuity operations with other government stakeholders.
  • Conduct system analysis and develop tailored solutions aligned with mission needs.
  • Lead Agile, DevOps, and CloudOps initiatives to improve team performance and process efficiency.
  • Maintain audit logs, implement monitoring solutions, and enforce risk management best practices in cloud environments.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation; provide status reporting and strategic insights to stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Promote best practices in DevSecOps, cloud automation, and data analytics technologies.
Required Qualifications
  • U.S. Citizen with an active Secret clearance
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in system operations, including 3+ years in cloud architecture/operations.
  • Proven experience with cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, and GCP.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud security, audit logging, and compliance frameworks.
  • Active Cloud Certifications (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Architect, GCP Professional Architect).
  • Familiarity with Agile/SAFe methodologies and DevSecOps practices.
  • Prior experience supporting DoD or government IT systems.
  • Must reside within 50 miles of a Marine Corps Installation with SCIF access (ideally MCB Camp Lejeune, NC; MCB Camp Pendleton, CA; or MCB Quantico, VA).
  • Able to access SCIF environments as required for SIPR-related patching and updates.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting the United States Marine Corps or other DoD Services.
  • Familiarity with USMC logistics systems.
  • Agile development experience.
  • Strong background in Jira, Confluence, and workflow tracking tools.
  • Hands-on expertise in DevOps and cloud automation practices.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and technical leadership skills.
  • Ability to connect technical solutions with measurable business outcomes
