Our ambition is to deliver modern and efficient solutions with the use of cutting-edge technologies, and we are looking for an experienced Cloud Platform Architect to join our Global Data Engineering and BI Team, responsible for the Circle K Cloud Data Platform in Microsoft Azure.
As a Cloud Platform Architect, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining robust platform solutions on Azure. Your work will focus on optimizing the delivery of cloud platforms and ensuring the architecture aligns with business objectives, supporting new initiatives, and enhancing existing data capabilities. You will provide architectural decisions, establish governance standards, and collaborate across teams to ensure seamless data flows and scalable solutions.
Responsibilities: - Working with Azure Cloud platform architects and data architects to provide subject matter expertise in designing, architecting and maintaining cloud solutions.
- Performing architectural assessments and producing detailed design documents addressing complex network, security, and performance needs.
- Designing scalable solutions to seamlessly accommodate growth and fluctuating workloads, leveraging services like auto-scaling, serverless computing, and distributed databases.
- Contributing and collaborating with the broader architecture team to drive platform governance initiatives and securing the required approval from the Architecture Review Board for new initiatives.
- Providing technical direction on Azure platform services, including best practices for system configurations, integration patterns, and leveraging platform features to meet business requirements.
- Driving automation of platform deployments using automations tools such as Terraform and version control systems like Git.
- Designing architectures to ensure reliability and resilience including redundancy, fault tolerance, and high availability.
- Participating in the creation and maintenance of technical roadmaps.
- Participating in PoCs and evaluations of new technologies to identify opportunities for improving platform capabilities and performance.
- Working with Security Architects to integrate security into every aspect of the architecture including identity and access management, encryption, network security, and compliance controls.
- Collaborating with product owners, business analysts, and developers to translate business requirements into scalable platform solutions.
- Defining and implementing monitoring frameworks for platform services to ensure high availability and proactive issue resolution.
Required Skills and Experience - 3+ years of professional, hands on experience designing, architecting, and implementing cloud platform solutions, specifically Azure-based platforms and enterprise-scale systems.
- Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts and technologies. Practical experience in designing systems to handle large data volumes.
- Practical experience in designing systems for large-scale data processing with a focus on Azure performance optimization and cost management.
- Experience with program languages like Java, Python, or C .
- Working experience in designing and architecting solutions that comply with data security industry standards and regulations, including RBAC, data encryption (GDPR, PCI, etc.), and monitoring.
- Experience in container technologies like Docker and container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.
- Microsoft Azure Certification required
Soft Skills: - Ability to understand complex business requirements and translate those into effective technical solutions.
- Ability to mentor and provide leadership to team members on Azure platform usage, including best practices for architecture, cost optimization, and performance tuning.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with IT teams and business stakeholders to facilitate discussions between technical and business staff to help the team make informed decisions about cloud adoption, architecture design, and technology selection.
- Foster teamwork through a culture of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement within cross-functional teams.
- Growth mindset and willingness to stay on top of emerging technologies and tools.
Other: - Experience working in agile methodologies
- Git version control
- Fluent English (all project communication in English)
Nice to have: - Experience with CI/CD tools (preferably github and Azure DevOps)
- Experience in JIRA and Confluence
