University Advancement's Information Management team has an exciting opportunity for a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer. This is a full-time, permanent position.
The Cloud Infrastructure Engineer collaborates with different teams and stakeholders throughout University Advancement to define and champion business needs and align them with a compelling enterprise vision for Cloud infrastructure practices. This work will be critical as we transform and advance the design, development, and buildout of solutions to support our various engagement initiatives.
What You Will Do: Implementation and Administration (50%)
• Implement infrastructure solutions to support data and system integration between on-premises and cloud environments.
• Ensure cloud-based infrastructure is secured in accordance with recommended security best practices.
• Create infrastructure solutions to support big data efficiency and optimize storage cost and performance.
• Administer and monitor the cloud infrastructure environment.
Strategy and Planning (30%)
• Lead, plan and advise on the strategic and tactical direction of cloud infrastructure deployment and operations that is scalable, efficient and cost effective.
• Apply technical knowledge to architect infrastructure solutions that align with overall business objectives and support cloud data and analytics solutions and pipelines.
• Analyze and recommend ways to optimize costs and implement operational efficiency with cloud infrastructure.
Stakeholder Collaboration (10%)
• Lead, mentor and collaborate on cloud infrastructure adoption and usage with a diverse set of staff, including, but not limited to, product owners, project managers and data teams.
• Communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences both in written and verbal form.
Other Duties as Assigned (10%) MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in a related field AND four years of experience in architecture, design, implementation, and support of cloud-based infrastructure and applications.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. What You Bring:
• Knowledge of the cloud infrastructure platform (Azure preferred) and ability to architect, design and implement data and analytics solutions on Azure.
• Experience in architecture, design, implementation and/or support of infrastructure and applications in a hybrid infrastructure environment.
• Understanding of system development in cloud environments, including Software as Service (SaaS), Platform as Service (PaaS) or Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS).
• Experience working with cloud security best practices and securing networking infrastructure, including securing SQL and document-oriented databases, VPNs and Firewalls.
• Understanding of data science tools, solutions, model lifecycles, etc. to support the operationalization of machine learning and analytics models.
• Experience implementing big data solutions by developing scalable data processing platforms to drive high-value insights to the organization.
• Experience working with or in cross-functional teams in a large, dynamic, deadline-driven environment.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and to handle confidential and sensitive information in an appropriate manner.
• Ability to work independently, problem solve, take initiative, set priorities, handle multiple projects and exercise good judgment in a fast paced, dynamic, deadline driven environment in an organized and professional manner.
What You Can Expect:
• Must be able to respond to system outages during off-hours. Some system setup and maintenance are required outside normal business hours.
• Cubicle/open workspace environment that may result in higher noise levels and visual distractions.
