Overview:
The Cloud FinOps Analyst will play a key role in transforming complex Azure billing data into actionable insights that support both customer-facing and internal decision-making. This position focuses on leveraging data analysis and reporting to provide a clear understanding of Azure usage and costs, contributing to both client success and operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate will develop customized dashboards, create insightful reports, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that data drives business strategy and enhances profitability. This role requires a strong foundation in data analysis, reporting, and visualization, with a particular focus on Azure billing and cost management. The Analyst will serve as the subject matter expert, ensuring that both internal stakeholders and clients receive valuable, accurate insights to optimize their Azure experience.
Responsibilities:
Azure Billing Management (Customer & Internal)
- Manage and monitor Azure billing processes for clients, ensuring accurate and timely invoicing.
- Provide clients with insights into their Azure usage and costs through custom dashboards and reports.
- Work closely with clients to understand their billing needs and address any inquiries related to Azure billing.
- Maintain internal tracking and reporting on Azure billing to ensure profitability and operational efficiency.
Customer-Facing Dashboards & Reports
- Develop and maintain interactive Azure billing dashboards using Power BI.
- Provide data visualizations and insights on Azure usage, cost optimization, and forecasting for clients.
- Create and deliver ad hoc reports on billing data as needed.
Ad Hoc Dashboard & Report Creation
- Respond to business and leadership requests for customized dashboards and reports related to Azure billing, usage, and financial data.
- Use SQL to query databases and Python (or similar tools) for additional data analysis and reporting requirements.
Collaboration and Communication
- Partner with internal teams (Finance, Sales, Operations) to align Azure billing insights with broader business goals.
- Act as the subject matter expert for Azure billing, ensuring internal teams and clients have clear visibility into costs and metrics.
Required Skills:
Technical Skills
- Strong expertise in SQL for querying and manipulating data.
- Familiarity with Python or similar Scripting languages for light coding and automation tasks.
- Experience with Power BI or similar reporting tools for dashboard creation and data visualization.
Data Analytics & Reporting
- Proven experience in data analysis and report generation, particularly related to billing or financial data.
- Ability to design and implement dashboards that provide actionable insights and drive decision-making.
Customer-Facing Experience
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex billing data and trends to clients.
- Experience in customer service or client management, especially in a technical capacity.
Business Process Understanding
- Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into effective data solutions.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams to deliver insights and improvements based on data analysis.
