Position Summary: We are seeking an entry-level but technically curious
Cloud Engineer - Tier 1 to join our growing cloud operations team supporting a centralized IT Service Management deployment for a healthcare system of 70 hospitals. This role is responsible for basic support, monitoring, and maintenance of cloud infrastructure-primarily within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem.
The ideal candidate will have foundational cloud knowledge, a strong desire to learn, and the ability to support day-to-day cloud operations with oversight from senior engineers.
Key Responsibilities:Cloud Operations & Support - Monitor and support Azure cloud environments including virtual machines, storage accounts, backups, and networking.
- Assist with basic configuration, provisioning, and troubleshooting of IaaS/PaaS resources.
- Perform user and role management via Azure Active Directory.
- Respond to alerts, tickets, and incidents related to cloud infrastructure-escalating when necessary.
System Maintenance - Support patching, updates, and compliance checks in cloud-hosted environments.
- Execute scripts and templates under supervision to automate routine tasks.
- Document configurations and contribute to knowledge base updates.
Collaboration & Learning - Work alongside Windows, Network, and Security Engineers to ensure interoperability.
- Participate in change reviews, planning meetings, and training sessions.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous learning and process improvement.
Requirements
Required Qualifications: - 1-2 years of experience in IT infrastructure, technical support, or cloud-related operations.
- Foundational knowledge of Microsoft Azure services (VMs, storage, networking, resource groups).
- Understanding of basic networking, virtualization, and Windows Server administration.
- Familiarity with Azure Portal, Azure AD, and Microsoft 365 environment.
- Strong communication skills and willingness to learn from senior team members.
- Must be U.S.-based and authorized to work without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications: - Certifications:
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900)
- CompTIA Cloud+ or equivalent foundational cert
- Education:
- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
- Experience:
- Prior work in a cloud-first or hybrid cloud environment.
- Exposure to Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), scripting (PowerShell, CLI), or cloud automation tools.
- Healthcare IT experience or familiarity with HIPAA compliance is a plus.
