Our Technology Services Hosted Platform Solutions team is excited to announce an opening for a Cloud Engineer II. This role is perfect for individuals at the beginning of their career who are eager to make a significant impact and be part of something extraordinary.

As a Cloud Engineer II, you will play a crucial role in assisting service owners in both traditional and cloud native environments, ensuring 24x7 operations while advancing SRE principles through and the advancing of automation initiatives. This hybrid position combines the responsibilities of a system engineer and a cloud engineer. You will ensure the operational integrity and compliance of services within Jack Henry Data Centers, as well as those already deployed in the cloud. Your duties will include automating services, and facilitating cloud migrations, building our Infrastructure as Code (IaC) pipelines and supporting our internal teams.

Location and Work Arrangement:This position offers the flexibility to work remotely from any location in the United States.

What you'll be responsible for:
  • Monitors server performance and assists with routine maintenance.
  • Assists with basic cloud administration tasks.
  • Performs routine maintenance on operational software and tools. Assists with basic disaster recovery planning and testing.
  • Assists with basic cloud migration tasks.
  • Collaborates with DevOps teams on basic tasks.
  • Implements simple automation solutions with guidance.
  • Creates and updates operational documentation with guidance.
  • Assists with basic client onboarding tasks.
  • Manage and support internal production server infrastructure; and development and testing environments and pipelines.
  • Manage and support public cloud production, testing and development environments and pipelines.
  • Maintain operational software and tooling E.g. Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Octopus Deploy, Apache Tomcat etc.
  • Implement Site Reliability & Disaster Recovery processes.
  • Build and support company's growth into the public cloud services and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Develop strong relationship with the DevOps team(s) to assure best practice implementations.
  • Implement automation across both public and private cloud data centers.
  • Maintain processes, tools, and documentation in support related to operational environments.
  • Develop processes and procedures regarding new client onboarding activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
What you'll need to have:
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of Windows Server Administration experience.
  • Must have a minimum of 1 year experience with Azure and/or GCP.
  • Must have experience with Terraform and GitOps.
  • Must have experience with automation tools such as PowerShell, Ansible, or Chef.
  • Must have experience with monitoring tools such as SCOM, Splunk, Honeycomb, Datadog, or Prometheus.
  • Must have experience with networking devices and protocols
  • Must have the ability to work in an afterhours on call rotation that is one week long every 3 months.
What would be nice for you to have:
  • Experience working with VMWare.
  • Experience working with Linux.
  • Experience with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles, including but not limited to Service Level Objectives (SLO) and Service Level Indicators (SLI), TOIL reduction, Automation and Root Cause Analysis.
