Cloud Automation Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Cloud Automation Engineer to join our dynamic team, focused on optimizing and scaling our cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate will design, develop, and implement automation solutions to streamline cloud account provisioning, ensuring efficiency, reliability, and security across platforms like IBM Cloud, AWS, or Azure. Responsibilities include creating Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform or Ansible and automating deployment processes to support rapid, error-free releases. You will collaborate with Platform Engineering, Development, support, and security teams to integrate automation workflows, monitor system performance, and proactively resolve incidents, all while maintaining compliance with IBM standards.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in cloud computing, scripting, virtualization and OpenShift. You should possess hands-on experience with automation frameworks, an understanding of cloud-native architectures, and the ability to troubleshoot complex systems. 5+ years of relevant experience is preferred. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential. Your role and responsibilities

Your Role and Responsibilities
•   Responsibility for automating, managing and operating the TechZone cloud footprint
•   Collaborate in building and maintaining TechZone automation that deploys and provisions cloud environments at scale.
•   Ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of this automation through proactive monitoring, incident response, and optimization.
•   Work closely with software engineering, content, and operations teams to design and implement reliable, scalable, and secure systems.
•   Mentor and guide junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and learning within the team.
•   Conduct incident response efforts, conduct root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures to avoid future incidents.
•   Maintain detailed and up-to-date documentation of system architecture, operational procedures, and incident reports.

Required technical and professional expertise

Experience with IBM cloud provisioning and operations

Experience with IBM cloud resources such as VSI or ROKS

Ability to automate operations with a modern tool such as Terraform or Ansible.

Ability to work well within a collaborative team environment

Preferred technical and professional experience

Experience in a large-scale operations or support environment

Experience with a cloud hyperscaler such as AWS, or Azure

Experience with GPU provisioning

Programming experience in a language such as NodeJS, Golang, or Python
