The department
The IT Team is responsible for all aspects of IT across the business, covering User Support, Infrastructure, Security, Data and Development Teams.
Purpose of job
The Cloud and Infrastructure Manager is to support the Head of IT by playing a pivotal role in managing and optimizing the businesses cloud-based and on-premise infrastructure.
This will include leading the cloud and infrastructure team in providing the infrastructure in a highly available, secure, scalable, robust and efficient way.
Accountabilities
Strategic Planning:
- Develop and implement strategies to align IT infrastructure with business objectives
- Plan for scalability and robustness to support future growth
Management and Oversight:
- Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of cloud systems and IT infrastructure
- Ensure all infrastructure is highly available, secure, scalable, robust and efficient
- Own cloud-based backup and disaster recovery procedures
Security and Compliance:
- Ensure that all cloud and infrastructure systems comply with security standards and regulations
- Implement data protection measures to protect the firms data and assets
Performance Monitoring:
- Monitor the performance of cloud and infrastructure systems
- Ensure high availability, reliability and performance of cloud environments
- Identify and resolve issues promptly to maintain high availability and reliability
- Manage a team of IT professionals and assist in their development
- Provide technical support and guidance
- Work closely with other IT teams, such as application development and cybersecurity, to support new technologies and business initiatives
- Manage relationships with cloud service providers.
- Negotiate contracts and ensure service level agreements are met
Budget Management:
- Plan and manage the budget for all IT infrastructure, ensuring cost-effective investments that align to the business needs
Qualifications/Experience
Experience:
10+ years in a senior infrastructure role
5+ years in cloud operations
Proven track record in managing cloud infrastructure (VMware, Cisco Network, Azure)
Strong understanding of cloud security and compliance standards
Leadership and Interpersonal Skills:
Strong leadership and team management abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration skills
Ability to manage time and prioritise the team's workload
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in MS Azure, Landing Zones, Terraform
- Knowledge of cloud architecture, data security, and data management
- Strong strategic planning and problem-solving skills to identify and rectify infrastructure related issues
Project Management:
Ability to coordinate and manage projects.
