Overview This person will act as a back-up Supervisor on an as needed basis and will supervise student clinical experiences associated with the Pennsylvania College of Technology Radiography program and affiliate medical centers assuring compliance with established practicum policies and guidelines. Qualifications Education: Associate's Degree in Radiography. (Minimum) Graduation from a JCERT approved school of radiography. (Minimum) American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Registration. (Minimum) Bachelor Degree. (Desired) Evidence of continuing education. (Desired) Experience: Two (2) years of post-certification professional experience. (Minimum) Four (4) to Five (5) years' experience as a radiographer. (Desired) Abilities and Skills: Willingness and ability to pursue courses pertinent to Radiography for continued professional development. (Minimum) Desire and ability to work closely with students in providing skills and experiences vital to a joint hospital/college radiography program. (Minimum) Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with students, staff, faculty, affiliate hospital staff, and the public. (Minimum) Sensitivity to the expectations of students, faculty, staff, and the local community. (Minimum) Effective oral and written communication skills. (Minimum) Developed organizational skills. (Minimum) Must be able to work in a fast passed, changing, environment (Minimum) Possession of a valid driver's license. (Minimum) Responsibilities Provide supervision and assistance to all students during clinic practicum ensuring that clinical competencies are met during student's clinical experience. (Essential) Integrate the practicum education phases of the students' training with classroom and laboratory objectives/ activities in coordination with the Clinical Supervisors, Clinical Director, Director, and Radiography faculty. (Essential) Assure that radiography students are not performing any radiographic procedures during practicum they are not yet qualified to perform. (Essential) Assure that staff radiographers are in compliance with the rules and guidelines established by the College and the JCERT. (Essential) Assure student compliance with affiliated institutions' operating policies and procedures. (Essential) Review images that students have attempted during their clinical practicum for positioning accuracy and optimum exposure. (Essential) Monitor and report regularly to the Clinical Director regarding matters of adequate student scheduling and attendance. (Essential) Maintain clinical performance records on students as requested by the Clinical Director. (Essential) Maintain competency in the discipline and instructional and evaluative techniques through continuing professional development. (Essential) Documents actions related to student disciplinary matters. (Essential) Assists with maintenance and organization of student clinical schedules. (Essential) Ensures radiations safety practices are appropriately followed by students in the clinical environment. (Essential) Physical Standards and Special Job Features Physical Standards: Some lifting due to patient positioning. Moving and pushing of radiological equipment. Special Job Features: Some travel between College and clinic sites is necessary. Travel will require use of own vehicle. These individuals will be utilized if a full-time Clinical Supervisor is absent from clinic. PA state Background check, Child Abuse Clearance, and FBI fingerprint clearances are required before employment can begin. These individuals may be employees of Radiography Program affiliate clinical sites, however, during hours the individual will be paid by the college and will perform the assigned job duties. While working for Penn College, the individual may not perform hospital employee functions and will be solely supervising the radiography students and completing other duties related to this job description.
