We are seeking a Solicitor (or equivalent) to manage complex, high-value defendant clinical negligence claims, mentor junior lawyers, and lead client-facing initiatives.

Key responsibilities

  1. Manage a caseload of litigated and pre-litigated high-value/complex clinical negligence cases.
  2. Conduct investigations efficiently to resolve or dismiss claims.
  3. Liaise with litigants, claimant's solicitors, clients, counsel, and experts.
  4. Experience in business development or operational/supervisory roles is expected.
  5. Complete MI procedures.
  6. Adhere to client protocols and internal policies.
  7. Achieve financial and chargeable targets.
  8. Meet deadlines, quality standards, and key performance indicators.
  9. Lead client-facing and business development initiatives.
  10. Ensure compliance with policies and work in line with our values.

You will also ensure compliance with Weightmans and client policies, consistently working in accordance with our values.

About You

You should be a qualified solicitor (or equivalent) with a minimum of 5 years PQE. The role requires flexibility and adaptability to various tasks. Additionally, you should have:

  • A genuine interest in the healthcare sector.
  • Experience in defendant clinical negligence; claimant experience is also welcomed.
  • Excellent technical knowledge, including CPR.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Good time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to investigate and analyze evidence thoroughly.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work under pressure.
  • Experience working to KPIs and SLAs.
  • Teamwork and independent working skills.
  • A flexible, proactive approach.
