Work Location: Ladson Office Building with infrequent travel to other department locations for education needs.

Job Summary:

Coordinates and conducts department orientation, and annual employment education/ testing to include, but not limited to PPD, Net Learning mandatories, competencies/ scenarios and employee licensure for the RSFH Imaging service line. Available to travel as necessary in order to meet the demands of service line for the purpose of orientation, FIT testing, employee training issues, meetings, etc.

The Imaging Educator is responsible for overseeing the new hire orientation program for the Imaging department, which includes ensuring that all staff receives appropriate orientation, education and training in regard to general skills, department policies and procedures, and current standards of care. The Imaging Educator is responsible for directing and coordinating staff development activities of the Imaging Department.

The Imaging Educator is responsible for directing and providing educational in-services to staff based on identified needs and Process Improvement activities. The Imaging Educator participates in Process Improvement activities for Imaging Services.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Allied Health Professions. BA or BS in Healthcare Management, Imaging, or Education field preferred.

Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of experience as an Allied Health Professional. Two (2) years of supervisory/management or clinical education experience preferred.

Licensure/Certification: Currently registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), and/ or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Songoraphers (ARDMS). Certified or documentation that certification has been applied for the SCRQSA. Must have a current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Card.

Knowledge/Skills: Demonstrates organizational and leadership ability. Demonstrates a through working knowledge of ARRT, TJC and SC Licensure laws/regulations for coverage. Demonstrates knowledge of adult learning principles. Demonstrates ability to perform educational presentations both orally and in writing. Demonstrates proficiency in computer systems to include clinical and office application programs. Demonstrates exceptional customer service, communication and interpersonal skills.

Other: Must have a valid SC driver's license, with a good driving record.

Contacts: Allied Health Profession institutions, department personnel and various medical personnel.

Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, stooping. Frequent lifting/moving patients. Intermittent lifting, moving or carrying, pushing or pulling up to 50 lbs. Frequent use of finger/hand dexterity. Constant reaching with hands/arms. Frequent talking or hearing. Corrected hearing and vision to normal range. Exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue. Possible exposure to infectious materials, communicable diseases and/or other conditions common to a healthcare environment. Intermittent exposure to risk of exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Moderate noise level in work area. Requires work under stressful conditions, deadlines, or irregular hours.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES % OF TIME

1. Coordinates orientation for all new employees; conducts and documents detailed orientation program to include reinforcing TJC, HIPAA, Imaging Service Line and Standards of Behavior, for all new imaging employees and transfers, and directs employees to specialized orientation in home departments. Monitors the orientation process to ensure modality specific documentation is done within the appropriate timeline and reviews, documents, makes recommendations and revises as necessary all age specific "high risk - low volume" indicators with Imaging Leadership.

2. Coordinates with Imaging Managers, Lead Technologists and other non-clinical areas of the department for ongoing education of staff.

3. Maintains Imaging-HR compliance by working directly along with the entire Imaging Leadership Team to ensure SC DHEC mandated documentation availability, pertinent to any/all required licensing for all technologists (ARRT, NMTCB, ARDMS, SCRQSA, etc), and annual licensure/certification requirements for all staff involved with patient care. Licenses are maintained and displayed per requirements. Coordinates annual TB Fit testing for imaging departments. Works with the System Imaging Managers on employee non-compliance. Holds medical and sensitive information in confidence.

4. Participates in Performance Improvement activities and teams for the agency and utilizes this information for staff education and training.
