Overview: - Solid academic & applied background in clinical nutrition for acute care setting.
- Knowledge and application of medical nutrition therapy principles.1.1 Participates in improving departmental performance through established quality control procedures and continuously seeks improvement opportunities for the quality of nutrition care.
- Effective written and verbal communications skills with peers, patients/families, and multidisciplinary team members.
- Maintains state dietetics licensure
- Maintains active registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration the credentialing agency for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
- Partners with co-workers and department leader to collaborate on patient care, individual goals, and department goals.
- Ability to participate in patient care including, weekend and holiday call rotation and coverage of other team members.
- Assesses clinical dietitian competencies of self annually.
- Maintains qualifications and skills to provide standard of care and evidence-based patient care.
- Ensures performance review and education needs are complete in a timely manner
- Assures that all co-workers are provided with in-service training, orientation, and continuing education opportunities.
- Responsible for maintaining certifications and competencies so that HR/Education files are complete and accurate for self.
- Participates in regular staff meetings to discuss current nutrition issues, evaluation of dietitian services, and maintain open lines of effective communication.
- Creates and participates in sustaining an engaging work environment with co-workers.
- Continuously assesses and improves department performance levels through the quality control process.
- Makes regular rounds in areas of responsibility including patient floors, floor food pantries, monitoring regulatory guidelines under scope of practice for the area.
- Nutrition Care Process: Accurate nutritionally screening, assessment including nutrition focused physical exam, diagnosis, interventions, education, and discharge planning meeting age-specific criteria for area of responsibility.
- Responsible for providing excellence in nutritional care to patients.4 Ability to counsel and educate others.
- Effective teaching skills with mentoring from experienced clinician as preceptor for clinical experience.
- Responsible for participating in continuing education opportunities to update nutrition knowledge.
- Responsible for utilizing up-to-date and evidence-based nutrition education materials, interventions, and patient-specific goals.
- Performs Nutrition-Focused Physical Exams as part of the nutritional assessments on all high-risk patients.
- Develops and implements nutrition care plans based on established standards of practice.
- Accurately documents nutritional services provided in patients medical record.
- Evaluates and revises the nutrition care plan based on the overall effectiveness of the patients treatment.
- Provides nutrition care process to the patient and/or family according to department policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs.
- Collaborates with members of the health care team about patient needs, problems and progress.6 Effectively communicates with all co-workers.
- Meets regularly with Leadership to keep leader informed of progress-to-date, quality and safety variances, and significant issues related to the patient or clinical care.
- Communicates with physicians to identify opportunities for improvement and follow-up accordingly.
- Participates and supports members of hospital committees as directed and serves as a liaison for food service, nursing, medical personnel, and other allied health staff in relation to clinical nutrition.

Qualifications: - Education:Required: Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics.
- Experience:Required: 0-3 years of Healthcare experience in clinical dietetics and/or healthcare food service setting.
- Preferred: 1-3 years of healthcare experience in clinical dietetics and/or healthcare food service
- Certification/Registration:Required: Both RD and LD status must remain effective and in current status.
- Current Registered Dietitian with State of Practice License or must be Registry eligible to obtain State of Practice License.
- Registry eligible candidates must complete registry requirements within the first six months of employment.
- Credentialing and NPI must also be completed within 6 months of hire.Other Skills & Knowledge
