Carry out delegated tasks independently or with provider oversite Proficient Computer skills Licensure/Certification/Registration Required: Current Arkansas State License Practical Nurse Must obtain American Heart Association BLS within 90 days of hire Preferred: IV certification in State of Arkansas Position Competencies: Competencies are essential skills needed to be successful in a position. These competencies are required to help the department maintain a high level of productivity and success. Each competency will be evaluated by observation. If evaluated by another method i.e. simulation, discussion or post test please note in the comment box below each corresponding competency. Responsible and accountable for patient care as directed by the clinic provider(s) accurately documenting all patient care activities as per documentation standard; seeking assistance from others to further develop documentation skills. Identifies and respects patients' rights including age, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, cultural diversity, religious beliefs, physical disability and social and economic constraints. Works with provider to meet special needs. Interview patients to obtain medical/social information, records patients' medical history, vital statistics and information such as test results in medical records and medication review. Authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies after obtaining written order from a licensed provider. Initiate order entry and route to provider for signature Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean. Clean and prepare instrument for sterilization by sterile processing department and dispose of contaminated supplies. Prepare and administer medications as directed by the provider. As applicable to site location and competency training, collect blood, tissue or other laboratory specimens, log, and prepares specimen for testing or transport in a timely manner. Prepare patients for examinations, tests or treatments, and relay provider instructions as delegated by the provider. Medication: Administers medication according to the 5 Rights and system policy. Monitors for adverse medication reactions. Clarifies instructions given by to patient by provider. Recognizes abnormal assessment data and urgent problems and notifies provider. Provide patient instruction for home care (treatment procedures, medication schedules, diet, etc.) as directed by provider. Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy.
