Job Summary: Responsible to manage daily operations for the business unit by maximizing service for existing clients and effectively allocating resources to coordinate and support new business.
A Day in The Life (bullets):
- Oversees assigned team members to ensure client deliverables support the strategic business plan and meet service and new sales objectives; achieves business goals as defined.
- Collaborates with the related Sales Executive for new business brokering of high net worth accounts; duties include quoting coverage, carrier selection and negotiations, underwriting, submission, and developing proposals.
- Interfaces with a prospective client to collect information necessary for the preparation and delivery of the quote as needed.
- Serves as the business unit's power-user of the agency management system of record; responds to and addresses system inquiries and concerns.
- Contributes to the development of the annual business plan; collaborates with the supervisor to establish goals for operational efficiencies, client retention, and carrier relationships and growth.
- Develops and maintains relationships with key carrier contacts.
- Works closely with the supervisor to measure, evaluate and report monthly on revenue and expense issues, taking action where necessary to ensure short and long-term profit and loss targets are achieved.
- Establishes and ensures quality workflow and work-product control policies and their related systems are applied and followed consistently; corrects deficiencies and modifies standards as needed.
- Responsible for the leadership and performance management of assigned team members; coaches each team member in the establishment of professional and personal goals, works closely with Human Resources to ensure training needs are met, and that each staff member achieves their individualized performance and career development objectives.
- Fosters a collaborative work-team environment; establishes and ensures quality work-product control policies, their related systems and efficient workflows are applied and followed consistently; corrects deficiencies and modifies standards.
- Co-leads team meetings to discuss short-term objectives and long-term goals, which may include upcoming client deliverables, the progress of primary projects, key practice initiatives, current events, and trouble areas; engaged in the general exchange of ideas and knowledge transfer.
- Maintains a high level of awareness concerning industry and business innovation; introduces findings to drive better results for our clients and the overall business.
- Attends relevant conferences, networking opportunities with industry leaders, and key professional affiliate events; seeks appropriate speaking opportunities to showcase practice expertise.
- Serves as the knowledge expert for carrier requirements, underwriting, and account brokering.
Carrier/Market Security:
- Responsible for carrier contract submissions. This includes coordinating reviews by Legal and Information Technology Team, completing other required paperwork and supplying supporting documentation such as E&O Certificates, W-9 and payment (ACH) documentation. If revisions are found during legal and/or IT review will coordinate the request for those with the carrier.
- Maintains Carrier and Sub-Broker lists on intranet.
- Supplies license, E&O and W-9 updates to carriers as requested.
- Updates/maintains entity and appointee information with carriers as requested
- Add new carriers into AMS360 for business use as needed; completes updates to carrier address information when needed.
- Coordinates new Sub-broker Agreements by gaining proper signatures and ensuring correct supporting documentation is provided by Sub-broker. Once completed, new Sub-brokers are also added into AMS.
- Monitors A.M. BEST Ratings changes of carriers by daily emails; sends a monthly summary to Business Units Leaders.
- Creates and maintains budget for carrier appointment fees.
Licensing:
- Responsible for maintaining files of resident licenses; sends out renewal reminders each month.
- Utilizing third-party license management system to manage non-resident licenses including both new requests and renewals of currently held licenses.
- Serves as URA licensing team backup for other platform companies.
- Maintains Ohio affiliation listing on Ohio website.
- Processes annual New York Cybersecurity filings for eligible licensees and entities.
- Creates and maintains budgets for Oswald licensing fees.
Surplus Lines:
- Oversees Oswald surplus lines processes. Completes surplus lines business filings with the states as well as completing regular monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual reporting to each state as required. Requests payment of surplus taxes by electronic payments or mailing live checks as required by each individual state.
- Attends URA Surplus Lines Working Group Meetings.
- Serves as Surplus Lines backup for other URA platform companies for business continuity purposes.
What You'll Need:
Bachelor degree in Business Administration (MBA Preferred) from a four-year college or university and five to ten or more years of related experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Prior Experience Specifically Required
- Prior leadership experience in an insurance brokerage environment is required
- Prior experience in Personal Lines Accounts as defined by size and scope is required
- Demonstrated success as a collaborative leader directing a service team is required
