Position Overview

This is a unique position that combines the ability to excel in clerical work and customer service skills in a fast-paced work environment. The perfect candidate for this job is a high energy multi-tasker that willingly takes direction from supervisors and executes tasks independently. Employees in this class are responsible for the performance of clerical tasks, learned by on-the-job training, requiring limited judgment in execution. Employee must have the flexibility to work evenings and weekends to assist with special events. These duties will be performed primarily at the Robert "Bob" Harrison Senior Wellness and Advocacy Center.

Applicants will ONLY be considered for this part-time position if they are flexible and can work evenings and/or weekends.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

(All duties listed may not be included in any one position nor does the list include all tasks found in a position of this class.)
  • Maintains various types of records and files.
  • Must be able to operate membership software for various tasks assigned.
  • Answers phone and provides follow-up calls as assigned by supervisor.
  • Assists members, the public and co-workers in performing routine tasks as directed by supervisor.
  • Flexible schedule to include events on weekends and evenings.
  • Employee will perform related work as required.

Education and Experience

Education
  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to:
  • Graduation from a standard high school including business courses.
Knowledge, Skill, and Ability
  • Familiarity and willingness to work with the elderly population.
  • High level of customer service skills
  • Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
  • Ability to use current computer applications with ease.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions as required.
  • Ability to accurately maintain simple clerical records.
  • Ability to write legibly as required.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees, members, and the public.
  • Ability to learn assigned clerical tasks readily.
Other Requirements

Physical Requirements
  • Work is performed primarily in an office environment.
  • Work may also be performed in the field on occasion and involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions when operating equipment and performing the work.
  • Work is essentially sedentary with occasional walking, standing, bending, and carrying items under 25 pounds such as books, papers, office supplies, and file folders.
  • Work requires the physical ability to position oneself in a stationary position for extended periods of time and operate a computer keyboard.
Certifications or Licenses Required
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Must maintain a driving record that is acceptable to the Madison County insurance provider.
  • Must have CPR certification or ability to obtain CPR certification within 3 months of hire.
Schedule
  • Monday - Friday; 10:30am - 5:00pm
