Job Description: The Army Soldier and Weapon Systems Department is seeking a Technical Lead to serve as a Systems and Software Architect, who will be responsible for overseeing the technical aspects of the PEO STRI Army Critical Information and Exposure Reporting System (ACIERS) project. The selected candidate will ensure alignment with software industry best practices and integrating emerging technologies including artificial intelligence. This role involves strategic planning, technical design, and implementation expertise to support the program's roadmap and objectives. The selected candidate will be the primary interface to the ACIERS project office and help define capability development, strategize on software development schedules and funding needs, and identify/address emerging software risks. PEO STRI ACIERS leaders primarily reside in Huntsville, AL. Successful candidates will work closely with senior government civilian and military leaders to define and execute MITRE's work. Regular sponsor interaction will be required, and the candidate may be expected to co-locate in government or contractor spaces. The candidate must be willing to support meetings and engage with government stakeholders at least three days a week. This position is located in Huntsville, AL and open to qualified Lead step and above applicants. The selected candidate must have software engineering and/or systems engineering background as they will be responsible for overseeing the software sprint reviews and program planning events and delivering a technical report of the findings and recommendations to the ACIERS projects. This role also includes identifying software risks, opportunities for artificial intelligence incorporation, and advising the prime contractor on software development and agile processes utilizing industry best practices. The selected candidate will be responsible for establishing our impact and building a trusted advisor relationship with the PEO STRI Threat Systems Management Office (TSMO). This position also involves setting the technical direction of our software support to the PEO STRI ACIERS program, strategically shaping the support with the PEO STRI Project Leader, and building collaborative relationships across the sponsor community, MITRE, and industry. The successful candidate will collaborate with project leaders, task leads, department managers and chief engineers to bring MITRE to bear. Roles & Responsibilities: Provide strategic, tactical, and technical support to ensure ACIRES aligns with industry best practices and emerging trends. Oversee the technical design and implementation of data integration, architecture, and analytics. Formulate independent technical plans, reports, and analyses. Serve as a senior-level independent technical advisor, providing objective analysis and evaluation of current and future applications and capabilities. Evaluate and provide recommendations on the ACIRES platform, its capabilities, and assets. Assist with adopting agile and modern software engineering methodologies. Develop and nurture relationships with senior leaders with the goal of serving as a trusted advisor and guiding the respective work programs to achieve strategic goals established in concert with these leaders.

Collaborate with department managers and project leaders to define a high impact work program enabling MITRE to bring differentiated value.
Assist project leaders in identifying the necessary talent and resources necessary to execute our work. Basic Qualifications: Minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years' experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience
Degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering or related discipline
Experience working with the Army in the areas of systems architecture, engineering, data integration, and analytics.
Strong track record of technical experience working with agile and modern software engineering methodologies, enterprise architectural integration patterns, artificial intelligence processes, and standardization.
Knowledge of Army systems and Army acquisition programs, especially in the areas of systems engineering and artificial intelligence
Proven leadership experience in the national security field, that includes the formulation of technical plans, strategy development, and management of multi-disciplinary teams.
Demonstrated experience in leading and developing key sponsor relationships with senior leaders across the Department of Defense.
Active Secret Clearance
This position requires a minimum of 4 days a week on-site. Preferred Qualifications: Understanding of the technical and strategic aspects of the ACIRES project, with a focus on enhancing the Army's ability to manage supply chain risks and software vulnerabilities
