Job Summary:

Works with Multilingual learners (MLs) in developing English skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening through the district's guaranteed and viable curriculum for ML students. The ELD teacher collaborates with classroom teachers in ensuring best practices for MLs are implemented throughout the school day. Work is performed under the supervision of the principal/Executive Director.

Job Duties:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Essential functions of the job may include but are not limited to the following:

Planning and Instruction:

o Plans and organizes language development instruction consistent with the district curriculum.

o Utilizes WIDA framework and standards in the development of lesson plans.

o Employs a variety of instructional techniques and teaching strategies to meet different aptitudes and interests of students, including sheltering lessons, whole group (co-teaching where applicable)/ small-group or individual learning.

o Collaborate with classroom teachers in ensuring best practices for MLs are implemented throughout the school day.

Compliance:

o Administers required language proficiency (W-APT/ACCESS) and academic achievement tests within the required time frame.

o Assures proper placement in ELD courses/groups according to district guidelines.

o Maintains cumulative folders with required paperwork for English language learners.

o Runs student reports weekly to ensure accuracy of data.

o Collaborates with building administration to Collect and complete all required paperwork for the ML student redesignation process.

o Assists in monitoring Fluent English Proficient (FEP) students who have exited from ELD services within the last two years.

o Remains current in all district CLDE related communications.

o Attends IEP, Section 504, or other related meetings necessary for student assessment and/or compliance with federal and/or state law.

o Facilitates ELD Consult model for consult students when applicable.

o Assists in collecting and analyzing data for increasing student achievement.

Professional Growth and Responsibility:

o Participates in all required ELD teacher professional learning days.

o Participates in all district required CLDE professional learning opportunities.

o Assists in developing and delivering building level professional development when necessary.

Professional Relationships:

o Works towards building a positive self-image in English learners.

o Helps the school staff to be aware of and sensitive to cultural differences

o Establishes and maintains communication with parents of students in the program

Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds.

Encourage parent and community involvement, obtain information for parents when requested, promptly return phone calls and answer emails.

Participate in appropriate professional activities.

Participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, clubs and student organizations as directed.

Other duties as assigned.

General:

Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.

Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Must have the ability and proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.

Knowledge and implementation of relevant technology.

Perform all other related work delegated or required to accomplish the objectives of the total school program.

Education and Experience:

Minimum B.A/B.S. degree in teaching from an accredited institution or related field teaching

Current Colorado Educator License with required endorsement according to ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act)

ESL, Bilingual, Linguistically Diverse Education (LDE), or Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education (CLDE) endorsement required.

Must complete evidence-based READ act training within 90 days of start date

Meet professional teacher education requirements of School, District and State.

Physical Requirements:

Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

Other Information:

This position may require successful completion of pre-employment checks to include a criminal background check, fingerprinting and drug screening.

This position normally works Monday - Friday

Some weekend and evening

Job Type: Full-time


Pay: $58,000.00 - $68,500.00 per year starting range
