Job Title: General Education Paraprofessional

Reports to: Campus Administrator

Primary Purpose
  • Under the direct supervision of one or more certified teacher(s), assist in the implementation educational programs for students.
Qualifications
Education / Certification
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalency
  • Minimum of an Associates Degree or 48 semester hours of college credit, preferred
  • Educational Aide Certificate from the State Board of Educator Certification within one year of employment
Special Knowledge and Skills
  • Ability to work well with children and adults
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • General knowledge of office equipment (computer, printer, technology, etc.)
Major Responsibilities and Duties
  • Assist in supporting employees, students and parents in the effective operation of the general education program
  • Assist the teacher and/or administrator in keeping administrative records and preparing required reports
  • Inform the teacher and/or administrator of any communication with parents
  • Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and state and local board policy
  • Assist in supervising students throughout the school day as requested by the Campus Administrator
  • Assist in inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment
  • Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events, as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Work as a team member and with peers, teachers, campus personnel and the Campus Administrator
  • Display professional demeanor, resourcefulness, communicate effectivelywith diverse groups and accept supervision
  • Display initiative
  • Work without moment-to-moment supervision.
  • Demonstrate regular and punctual attendance.
