Responsibilities
OVERVIEW - The CDL Driver position is a position designed for employees who have a minimum of 2 years' experience operating trucks with a Class A driver's license. The position requires an energetic and enthusiastic individual who has the ability to meet physical requirements, follow instructions, observe and learn procedures, and follow all safety protocol relative to this position.
The objective of this position is to be able to safely and effectively drive CERT vehicles that have minimum requirements of Class A license. Must demonstrate good judgement and be known to take all reasonable and required precautions when dealing with safety and nonhazardous materials. Must have a working knowledge of industry terms and generally accepted industry practices.
Qualifications
- 2 or more years of driving experience
- No automatic restrictions
- Must have or acquire a tanker endorsement
- No major violations within past 2 years
- Current Class A license in good standing with issuing state
- Current DOT Physical
- Must have acceptable written and verbal communication skills
- Must have clean driving record and be able to be insured by CERT insurer
- Must have flexibility to work extended hours, early hours, late hours, weekends if needed and be able to participate in on-call rotation
- Demonstrate the ability to effectively teach, coach and instruct new employees
- Must be able to properly wear all Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) including Tyvex suits, respirators, hard toe shoes, hard hats, face masks, gloves, eye protection and any other PPE that may be required based on a specific job requirement
- Must be able to lift 10-20 pounds consistently, 20-40 pounds regularly, 40-60 pounds occasionally and 60-80 pounds rarely
- Must be able to see either naturally or assisted with prescribed corrective lenses
- Must be able to hear either naturally or with prescribed corrective devices
- Effectively be able to communicate verbally
- Must be able to stand, sit, kneel, crouch, bend, squat, climb, lift overhead, and have no limitations to heavy physical activities
- Must be able to work in conditions with excessive temperatures
