Our Claims Analytics team is currently seeking a Claims Lead Data Analyst to join our growing team in our Worcester, MA office in a hybrid work arrangement or remote work location.
This is a full time, except position.
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Lead Data Analyst will use business data to provide insight into business performance and where appropriate, suggest areas and methods of improving operations. Analysis will span multiple business segments and lines of business across the company.
Responsibilities include analyzing variances in performance compared to plan, identifying and communicating potential areas for improvement within the unit or function, and building out new analytic capabilities to provide quicker and more comprehensive insights.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL: - Analyze data and effectively communicate conclusions in writing and verbally to internal business partners and other business functions as appropriate.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration to ensure cohesive data integration and reporting across multiple departments.
- Deliver insights to inform business decisions and contribute to the development of long-term business strategies.
- Support the creation of advanced data visualizations to enhance the understanding of complex data sets and support decision-making.
- Diagnose drivers of the company's financial results, and any underlying trends that may be impacting them (including both internal and external changes impacting business results).
- Contribute and engage in meetings and consult with internal and external customers to discuss results of analysis.
- Participate in cross-departmental projects; act as a representative between various departments (actuarial, finance, state management, underwriting, claims etc.) to ensure cohesive data integration, reporting and insights.
- Leverage industry knowledge, awareness of current business and economic trends, and internal data expertise to provide solutions to complex business questions across multiple lines of business.
- Enhance reporting to provide automated and process solutions to remedy operational inefficiencies.
- Provide thought leadership and influence in data analytics and contribute to a culture of data-driven decision-making.
- Influence the development of data infrastructure to support scalable and efficient data processing and analysis.
- Partner with and influence the data engineering and reporting teams to build datasets and visualizations that support the business unit operationally as well as functions outside of the unit. This will also include creating data/reporting that helps with data availability for our insights team.
- Leverage modeling or other predictive analytics to forecast trends and identify opportunities for business improvement.
- Assist with building out model monitoring reporting and datasets that inform leadership on the effectiveness of models.
- The lead analyst will understand where the data is housed across internal and external platforms, basic data models and architecture, how to access and obtain data, and how to manipulate and work with data to produce output - which may be reports, datasets, statistical analysis, or other insights.
- Assist with the establishment of and support best practices for data governance and ensure adherence to data integrity standards.
- Respond to urgent/timely requests and produce routine and ad hoc information in a rapid and dynamic turnaround climate.
- Will manage projects and be accountable for successful outcomes.
- Mentor and guide junior analysts in best practices for data analysis, reporting and insights.
- Explore the use of innovative data tools and technologies to enhance analytical capabilities.
WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY: - Bachelor's Degree or higher in a relevant technical field (math, finance, actuarial science, or analytics preferred)
- 8+ years of experience in a related field.
- Must be eligible to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future (ie. US Citizen or Greencard holder)
- Expert knowledge of Excel and intermediate knowledge of SQL
- Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills, including data visualization. Ability to synthesize information into storylines, themes, and insights and concisely present and communicate complex information to a variety of audiences to inform discussions and decision making.
- Effective problem solver who anticipates issues and seeks out and analyzes information collaboratively to propose solutions. Takes ownership for a successful resolution.
- Strong organizational time and project management skills. Ability to multi-task on multiple critical deliverables.
- Easily adapts to new or changing situations, requirements, or priorities.
- Has understanding of business unit and corporate strategic direction and general knowledge of corporate/business unit interdependencies.
