Summary

Responsible for the full-cycle claims adjusting and handling processes for the City of Denton. Oversee subrogation claims associated with assigned claim files, analyze claims data to identify and track trends, and provide training to internal stakeholders to minimize liability.

DUTIES
• Responsible for full-cycle claims adjusting for any combination of workers' compensation, auto liability, property damage, bodily injury, catastrophic loss, and other general liability claims, including but not limited to, investigation, interviews, claims analysis, verification of applicable coverages, determination of liability, denial, negotiation, reserve setting, negotiating with plaintiff counsel and other outside parties, mediation, trial and settlement of all liability claims within designated authority.
• Conduct on-site inspection of property damage, documents findings, and obtain and review police and other official reports, medical records, appraisals, and repair estimates to evaluate injuries and property damage; work with lien holders on property damage claims to ensure compliance with regulations.
• Handle complex bodily injury claims to conclusion; analyze injury information to ensure the injury is compensable and related based on the mechanism of injury, and injury treatment plans and medical records to ensure proper treatment of injury claims.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and proper handling of complex claims within multiple jurisdictions is complete through identification and analyzation of jurisdictional issues,
• Assist with the evaluation of Risk Management-related statistics, defining target goals, and monitor goal achievement; design, prepare, and distribute reports on trends and potential solutions to work-related problems.
• Assist with implementation of long-range accident prevention and cost-control strategies.
• Handle the total loss automobile valuation process and salvage disposal process.
• Comply with all internal and external stakeholder reporting requirements.
• Recognize and pursue excess insurance recoveries.
• Responsible for oversight of the City's Risk Management Information System (RMIS). Consistently maintain a diary system to manage claims, meet deadlines; updates the RMIS, and ensure that all data entry is timely and accurate. Accurately records all communication or activity relevant to the claim in the claim system notes.
• Respond to requests for information, including Public Information Act (PIA) requests, and may act as liaison between internal and external stakeholders with required information on all types of claims. Provide data to actuaries as needed.
• Ensure compliance with the applicable provisions of federal, state, and local laws, regulations, ordinances, and other standards (e.g., Medicare, HIPAA, data privacy). Preserve confidentiality of Protected Health Information (PHI) and applicable documentation and files. SUPERVISORY/BUDGET RESPONSIBILITIES

Job Requirements
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Risk Management, Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Engineering, or related field; and,
• Three (3) years' experience in liability claims adjusting; and possess at least one (1) of the following,
• One (1) year experience adjusting bodily injury claims; and,
• One (1) year experience adjusting litigated claims or claims with plaintiff attorney representation; and,
• One (1) year experience adjusting auto liability claims, and,
• Must have a Texas Multi-line Adjuster's license or be able to obtain one within 90 days of employment, OR
• Any combination of related education, experience, certifications, and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job. REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

• Must have and maintain a valid Class "C" Driver's License and valid state required minimum automobile liability insurance prior to employment (must obtain Texas Class "C" driver's license and state required minimum automobile liability insurance within 90 days of hire per state law)
• Must pass a drug test, driver's license check, criminal history background check, and social security number verification.
• If does not already possess a Texas Multi-line Adjuster's license, must be obtained within be able to obtain within 90 days of employment. Environmental Factors and Conditions/Physical Requirements
