POSITION SUMMARY
To safely and efficiently provide the necessary field layout and quality control to ensure that project design intent and requirements are met, while working with the civil group and VDC group field engineers to transfer data from drawings and models to the field for construction
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Assist the project teams with the utilization of all GPS interfaces on site, including the: rover, data collector, base station and machine mounted GPS equipment/machine control
- Provide layout, quality control and data gathering services for the project teams
- Properly communicate with the Civil and VDC group supervisors and field engineers
- Utilize the plans in order to determine necessary project requirements and constraints
- Be knowledgeable of and review layout for ADA compliance
- Perform non-civil tech duties on site as required by the project team
- Perform all assigned roles, responsibilities, and related work processes/tasks in the safest possible manner. Ensure that a safe, accident/incident-free work environment is maintained for all co-workers, customers, clients, suppliers, etc. at all times.
- Attend all civil tech training

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- Capable of Utility and Grading layout, and as-builts
- Capable of understanding ADA
- Capable of running topos and converting that data to useable field info
- Capable of running the pipe camera
- Working with Pipe crews to verify field installations and issues
- Learning A360
- Civil Group pre-reqs for apprentice
- Be certified ready for promotion by both the Civil and VDC group lead managers

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Valid Drivers License - Preferred
- OSHA 10-Hour Certification Required; training provided by Wayne Brothers
PHYSICAL ELEMENTS
- Lifting, carrying or moving up to 90 pounds
- Wearing all PPE when on any project site (e.g., Steel toed boots, Hard hat, Safety glasses, gloves, earplugs, etc.)
- Frequent lifting, bending, kneeling and reaching
- Walking Frequently
- Reaching above shoulder
- Standing for long periods of time
REPORTING AND ADVANCEMENT
- Reports to the Assistant Superintendent, Superintendent or General Superintendent, Field Engineer II
- Advancement position Civil Tech II
