Civil Designer - AutoCAD, Civil 3D, EIT
Location: Charleston, South Carolina

An experienced Civil Designer with AutoCAD drafting proficiency is required to join South Carolina's fastest growing Civil Engineering firm. You will ideally have 3-5 years in Civil Design and have gained your Engineering in Training (EIT) or PE license.
As a Civil Designer, you will be responsible for reviewing and providing feedback on shop drawings and material submittals for various projects, ensuring they meet project standards. You will collaborate with Surveyors to review as-built civil engineering systems and prepare CAD base sheet drawings from provided files. You'll also play a key role in preparing civil plan sets for construction, focusing on clarity and presentation, while addressing redline comments from agencies and senior engineering staff. Additionally, you will assist in performing quantity take-offs and cost estimates for design work, and support Engineers and Project Managers in the analysis of both proposed and current projects.
Your expertise will also be needed in performing hydraulic system and pipe design calculations, as well as preparing engineering reports such as drainage, water, and project narratives. You will be expected to attend pre-construction meetings, conduct site visits, and gain hands-on experience in the installation, testing, and inspection of site infrastructure systems. As your experience grows, you will take on more complex tasks, including performing construction observations and field reports.
Experience required:
- Advanced AutoCAD drafting.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel
- Strong understanding of project scope, schedules, budgets & deliverables.
- Proficient in file management and project organization
- Knowledge of key municipal and government agency stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions.
- Proficient in design software, including ICPR, WaterCAD, Civil 3D, Hydraflow Express, Storm Sewers, Microstation, Geopak etc
- Comprehensive understanding of agency regulations and design standards for specific projects.
- Ability to prepare a variety of civil design documents, including preliminary plats, site plans, SWPP plans, grading/drainage plans, water/sewer plans, profiles, and construction details.
- In-depth understanding of civil project specifications and production processes.
