Specific Areas of Responsibility:
The Project Engineer will support the development and delivery of the Balance of Plant structures by applying engineering and project management principles. The position will be tasked with a diverse set of responsibilities from high quality detailed review of engineering deliverables, development of construction plans, project management, and timely action item resolution. Areas of responsibility include:
- Engage with subcontractors and fabrication staff to ensure the constructability and oversight of major Balance of Plant Structures.
- Support development and detailed review of structural, siting, and architectural related documents (e.g. drawings, design criteria, specifications), code compliance, and material selection.
- Develop, track, assign, and complete project action items addressing technical, commercial, and logistical areas.
- Develop criteria and standards to perform engineering development, project coordination, and quality assurance.
- Complete research and technical paper development to inform design decisions.
- Review, comment, and manage local and world-wide subcontractor development schedules and engineering products
- Prepare and deliver technical presentations to internal and external organizations.
- Performing field walkdowns as well as reviewing shop and as-built drawings
- Support development and maturation of initial capital cost estimates via Material Take-Offs and the associated Bill of Materials/Quantities
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Structural, Construction, or a related Engineering application
- 4 to 10 years of experience in Civil, Structural, Construction, and Field Related Applications
- Familiarity with industry standards and design codes such as ASME, ACI, ASCE and AISC
- Ability to plan and organize work tasks and meet deadlines
- Effective communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent attention to detail and Strong problem-solving
- Capable of producing error-free documents
- Computer skills (e.g. AutoCad, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Demonstrated experience with project management principles, such as schedule, cost, and quality management
Desirable Additional Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Civil, Structural, or Construction Engineering
- Experience using commercial software such as ANSYS, LS-DYNA, ETABS, SAP2000, and STAAD.Pro
- Knowledge of geotechnical and geophysical engineering
- In-depth knowledge of strength of materials and structural mechanics
- Demonstrated experience with Balance of Plant Structures
- Commercial PWR Plant experience
- Professional Engineer certification in-progress
- Eligible to work in accord with Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810
