The Construction Inspector plays a pivotal role in ensuring construction projects, including roadways, bridges, traffic signals, etc., comply with all relevant plans and specifications.
This professional could either spearhead the inspection of a construction project independently or collaborate on supervising inspection activities for expansive or complex projects within a district.
Responsibilities
• Generate detailed daily reports and maintain daily timesheets, chronicling various aspects and progress of construction activities.
• Create quantity calculation sheets to facilitate monthly progress payments to contractors and ensure adherence to approved plans and specifications.
• Coordinate field testing of construction materials and conduct construction surveys.
• Observe and inspect ongoing construction work and coordinate field testing of construction materials and construction surveys.
• Liaise with various engineers, project stakeholders, and contractors' superintendents to oversee work progress and navigate construction challenges.
• Engage in weekly progress meetings and ensure contractors comply with plans and specifications during construction
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Construction Management or related field preferred.
• Experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties such as those listed
• Four years of experience in construction of transportation projects with minimum of two years of experience in public agency projects preferred.
• Must possess valid California driver's license in good standing.
