Job Summary

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Circulation and Records Management (30%)

• Oversees core circulation functions including check-ins, check-outs, renewals, holds, and withdrawals.

• Manages interlibrary loan (ILL) services via OCLC and NCCCEvergreen, including request submission, receipt, and return of materials.

• Maintains circulation records and implements a five-year retention system.

• Collects and processes lost item fines, forwarding payments to the Business Office.

Acquisitions and Collection Maintenance (30%)

• Assists in identifying vendors, securing pricing, and preparing purchase requisitions.

• Codes and processes invoices, tracks expenditures by budget code, and maintains detailed purchasing records.

• Verifies shipments, updates order statuses, and monitors outstanding orders.

• Coordinates periodical subscriptions and communicates with vendors regarding discrepancies.

• Participates in inventory control, shelf reading, and weeding to ensure collection accuracy and accessibility.

Patron Services and Support (30%)

• Provides frontline reference assistance and user guidance in accessing library and ASC resources.

• Communicates effectively with students, faculty, and staff to support academic engagement.

• Trains and supervises work-study students and provides cross-functional support in the absence of other staff.

Professional Growth and Administrative Support (10%)

• Engages in ongoing professional development relevant to library and ASC operations and completes minimum of 20 hours of annually to enhance knowledge of college operations, leadership and culture, subject matter expertise and teaching and learning.

• Performs additional responsibilities as assigned and assumes delegated tasks in the Director's absence.

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate degree required; coursework in Library Science or a related field preferred.

• Minimum of one year of technical or paraprofessional library experience.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) required.

• Experience with North Carolina E-Procurement system preferred.

• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

• Ability to exercise discretion and sound judgment in handling confidential materials.

Preferred Qualifications

Coursework in Library Science or a related field preferred.
