We are searching for a dynamic Group Teacher/Assistant Director to assist in leading our Before and After School Program at Frelinghuysen Elementary School in Newton, NJ.

In the absence of the Site Director, the Assistant Director will step in to take charge of supervising and managing the program, along with carrying out any responsibilities typically assigned to the Site Director.

SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday
JOB STATUS: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
PAY: $15.49 - $17.00 per hour

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Key Support: The Assistant Director helps the Site Director ensure the program complies with all regulations set by the state of New Jersey.

Compliance Guidance: Ensure that both staff and program follow OCFS guidelines, Healthy Kids policies, and the host school's rules.

Making it Fun: Lead engaging, hands-on activities following the Healthy Kids Curriculum, including fitness, STEAM, academics, arts, and more. Don't forget to assist with homework be the homework superhero.

Management Duties: Handle key management tasks such as maintaining accurate attendance and registration records and ensuring proper staffing levels to keep the program running smoothly.

Communication: Maintain clear communication with parents and families through the Playground App to keep everyone informed.

Team Collaboration: Regularly communicate with your direct report, ensuring they are informed about daily activities and addressing any issues promptly. Together, well provide top-notch care, create a positive work environment, and handle any challenges as a team.

REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Associate's Degree in Education, Psychology, Healthcare, Nursing, or any related field in Child Growth and Development, plus two years of experience working with children
OR

Head Teacher endorsement from the New Jersey Registry for Childhood Professionals, Professional Impact New Jersey

QUALIFICATIONS:

Be prepared to pass a background check, including fingerprinting, references, SEL & SCR through NYS Office of Children and Family Services.
Medical clearance to perform all job duties and free of any communicable diseases, including TB.
Warm, friendly, and approachable with excellent people skills whether interacting with children, parents, or coworkers. Youre reliable, professional, and punctual.
Ready to bend, stretch, lift, and carry (up to 50 lbs.) to keep up with energetic children.
