Job Title: Cook
Position: Part Time, up to 20 hours per week.
The Grove Childcare Center provides a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment for children. Our team is passionate about promoting healthy lifestyles and well-balanced nutrition as part of our educational approach. We are looking for a compassionate and skilled Cook to join our team and help us deliver nutritious, delicious meals to the children in our care.
Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and reliable Cook to prepare and serve nutritious, balanced meals for children at our childcare center. The ideal candidate will have a passion for cooking, knowledge of child nutrition, and a commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and organized kitchen. The Cook will work closely with our staff to ensure meal planning and preparation meet dietary guidelines and individual dietary needs.
Requirements - Prepare and cook nutritious, well-balanced meals and snacks for children in accordance with Wisconsin DCF 251 dietary guidelines and allergy considerations.
- Plan weekly menus in collaboration with the center's management, ensuring variety, nutritional balance, and adherence to food safety regulations.
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness and organization, including proper storage of food, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
- Follow safety protocols in food handling, storage, and sanitation to ensure a safe and hygienic environment.
- Monitor inventory and order supplies as needed, ensuring cost-effective and timely purchasing of food and materials.
- Communicate effectively with staff regarding any food-related issues, dietary restrictions, or special requests.
- Ensure meals are served on time and in an attractive, child-friendly manner.
- Adhere to local health department standards and childcare licensing regulations regarding food service and kitchen operations.
Qualifications - Previous cooking experience, preferably in a childcare setting or other institutional environment.
- Knowledge of child nutrition, including dietary needs and food allergies.
- Ability to follow recipes, menus, and food safety regulations.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A positive, patient, and caring attitude with a passion for working with children.
- ServeSafe certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Must successfully pass a background check
Preferred Qualifications - Experience working in a childcare center, school, or similar environment.
- Culinary training or a degree in food services or nutrition.
