Job Responsibilities York Technical College, a member of the South Carolina Technical and Comprehensive Education System, is a public, two-year institution of higher education that offers a variety of associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates. Through maximizing student success, the College seeks to contribute to the economic growth and development of York, Lancaster, and Chester counties and of the State.
The Child Development Center Cook performs the following functions:
- Provides quality standards in menu planning for the Child Development Center, ensuring consideration of children's food allergies and dietary needs. Provides food service to support family style dining to include preparing snacks and lunch each day of operations.
- Develops the food service procurement plan and maintains inventory of food, supplies, and equipment. Maintains detailed records of ingredients for all food items purchased, ensuring compliance with allergy and dietary needs. Ensures food service operates within the allocated food budget. Submits requests for needed equipment with estimated costs and possible vendors.
- Maintains and enforces sanitation and safety conditions in the kitchen and storage areas.
- Performs other duties as required, including housekeeping tasks.
Minimum and Additional Requirements A high school diploma and at least one year of related experience in quantity and quality cooking.
Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of the procurement, storage, preparation, distribution and serving of food products. Knowledge of dietetic principles involved in planning and reviewing menus for nutritional adequacy, dietary balance and attractiveness of prepared food products. Ability to maintain food service records and prepare written reports.
