Chief of Police
The Village of Mahomet, Illinois is seeking an experienced, community-focused, and team-oriented law enforcement professional that is inspirational, energetic, trustworthy, and organized to serve as its next Chief of Police. Located just ten miles west of Champaign-Urbana in east-central Illinois, Mahomet is home to over 9,900 residents who enjoy excellent schools, safe neighborhoods, and a high quality of life. The Mahomet Police Department is a full-service law enforcement agency, staffed by fifteen sworn officers and operating with an annual budget of $2.7 million. The next Chief of Police will be a visible leader, capable of inspiring and mentoring officers, while also fostering strong partnerships with residents, businesses, and local stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Seven (7) to ten (10) years of law enforcement command-level supervision experience.
- Demonstrated experience in patrol operations, criminal investigations, and major crimes.
- A record of positive community engagement and team development.
- Must reside within the Village of Mahomet or within its 1.5-mile extraterritorial jurisdiction.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $105,000 to $120,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience. The Village of Mahomet offers a comprehensive benefits package, including a take home vehicle, health insurance, retirement, paid leave, and professional development support.
