THE POSITION : The Department of Neurological Surgery is seeking a Chief of Pediatric Neurosurgery to join the faculty of Albert Einstein College of Medicine and the Medical Staff of Montefiore Health System and lead the Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery. The Chief position will include clinical, education, research and administrative responsibilities under the Department Chair s direction. The Chief will work closely with the Department Chair to assist in strategic planning and operational oversight, ensuring excellence in research, teaching and patient care. The Chief needs to collaborate with leadership of Children s Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM) and various clinical departments to innovate and integrate neurosurgical services across the health system in addition to mentoring junior faculty and supporting the clinical and educational activities of the Department of Neurosurgery. The Chief needs to demonstrate competence in various areas including clinical, surgical, pre and post operative patient care. The Chief will be expected to remain compliant with all the policies and regulations, and maintain professional and effective working relationships with colleagues, support team and department and hospital leadership. The Chief is also expected to promote the division/department services and educate the medical community and the public.
THE CANDIDATE : The successful candidate must possess an MD and have completed a residency in neurological surgery, and an approved fellowship in Pediatric Neurosurgery In addition, the candidate must be ABNS Board Eligible/Board Certified and be able to obtain an unrestricted New York Medical License. Fellowship trained candidates are preferred.
The ideal candidate has been in practice for 5-15 years and has demonstrated excellence in developing an academic clinical practice, and in leading teams to successful outcomes. Candidates with research efforts will be supported as appropriately based on track-record experience, and career goals
