Chief of Domestic Staff/House Manager


We currently seek to hire a Chief of Domestic Staff/House Manager to work directly with the CEO and his wife to plan and orchestrate the overall management of their properties, deeply rooted relationships, staff and service. This individual will supervise and guide the household staff based on the standards and desires of the principals, ultimately being responsible and fully accountable for the management of the entire household. The Chief of Domestic Staff/House Manager will report directly to the principals and must be totally "in sync" with both principals and their respective priorities.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Create an agenda and conduct meetings with both principals to review long and short term priorities for the house, including the plan to execute using staff resources
  • Work closely with both principals, personal assistant and domestic staff in the home and interface with office staff to help ensure seamless planning, coordination and execution of schedule
  • Supervise the planning, coordination, and organization of the family's personal events with a heavy emphasis on creative formal entertaining
  • Create annual "big-picture" calendar for the home including overall needs, seasonal activities and recurring events
  • Supervision of daily activities in household to ensure priorities and big picture/longer term goals are met
  • Hire and manage household staff, sign off on weekly timesheet submissions, comply with state and federal employment regulations
  • Oversee contracted security professionals in all homes
  • Maintain accurate records of all employees, including but not limited to: hiring, firing, orientation, training, mentoring, coaching, development, compensation, taxes, health/benefits plan and performance reviews
  • Develop system standards and protocols; maintain existing employee conduct handbook, rules/policy guidelines and household reference manual for each property
  • Direction, management, and delegation of staff roles; communicate regularly with staff, including holding weekly staff meetings as a forum for staff to communicate with one another and review the weekly issues/open items; build and foster a team environment
  • Management of medical concierge services
  • Procurement of equipment, supplies and services as needed
  • Negotiation, and management of household vendors and contractors
  • Supervision of the maintenance of employers' private home(s); coordination with staff to ensure that properties, grounds and personal effects are ready prior to seasonal transitions; including Hamptons home prep, wardrobe and equipment management
  • Track and catalogue asset inventories and liaise with insurance professionals (art, jewelry, memorabilia, decorative arts, etc)
  • Manage all ad hoc personal projects, special requests and related duties as needed

Compensation to $135k-175k plus exceptional benefits package
