The Role:
As the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) at our esteemed institution, you'll be an integral member of the SJO Executive Management Team. You'll collaborate closely with physician leaders and key operations and quality leaders to elevate clinical performance, ensure superior patient care, fortify financial stability, and enhance customer service. Your leadership will be pivotal in shaping the nursing services and professional practice within the hospital, aligning strategies to support overarching hospital objectives, and spearheading initiatives that make a tangible impact.
What You'll Do:
- Strategic Architect: Lead the charge in the hospital's strategic and operational planning processes, sculpting a future where patient care programs, policies, and standards exceed expectations.
- Clinical Innovator: Develop and nurture patient care programs, ensuring comprehensive assessments, evaluations, and implementations that meet the highest standards.
- Collaborative Catalyst: Engage with governance, executive teams, medical staff, and clinical leaders to drive decision-making and continuous improvement across the care continuum.
- Quality Pioneer: Foster an environment that champions evidence-based practice and nursing research, utilizing results to enhance patient care.
- Resource Maestro: Oversee fiscal accountability, optimizing resource allocations to meet productivity standards and budgetary goals.
- Communication Conductor: Facilitate regular dialogues with staff and management, disseminating strategic plans and addressing clinical and hospital-related concerns.
- Magnet Champion: Propel the organization towards Magnet recognition, consistently sharing and integrating best practices.
- Talent Strategist: Innovate recruitment and retention programs, working collaboratively to position SJO as a premier employer for nursing professionals.
- Technology Advocate: Partner in the development and implementation of advanced clinical information systems, ensuring nurses have the tools and training to maximize system effectiveness.
What You'll Bring:
- Educational Excellence: Master's Degree in Nursing coupled with Leadership/Management Theory coursework.
- Clinical Leadership Experience: A robust 10+ years of hands-on clinical experience in nursing leadership, complemented by 3 years in an administrative or nurse executive role.
- Strategic Success: A proven track record in fostering professional nursing practice, shared governance, and achieving Magnet standards.
- Licensure & Certification: California Registered Nurse License, NE-BC certification, and preferably membership in related professional organizations upon hire.
- Leadership Prowess: Exceptional interpersonal communication and change management skills, with a knack for motivating teams and maintaining accountability.
- Innovative Mindset: Demonstrated expertise in implementing patient safety improvements and utilizing lean methodologies for continuous process enhancements.
