We are assisting our client, Bank of Sun Prairie, a dedicated bank in the Dane County community, with the recruitment and selection of a Chief Financial Officer. The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a visionary responsible for utilizing generally accepted accounting principles, budgets, and regulatory agency and government guidance to ensure the safeguard of Bank assets. The CFO will develop strategies that provide executive management with long-term direction related to strengthening the Bank's financial position and improving Bank profitability. The CFO provides leadership, colleague development, and collaboration within the accounting department and with other business lines and departments. They are responsible for accurate and timely executive management and board reporting on results, accounting activities, and strategies.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review financial reports and risk indicators to assess asset health, liquidity, and profitability, providing executive recommendations for strengthening financial position and profitability.
- Develop, implement, monitor, and track long-term financial strategy for the Bank
- Oversee accounting operations, financial systems, and compliance with GAAP to ensure accurate recordkeeping and efficiency.
- Lead financial reporting, ensuring accurate preparation of income statements, balance sheets, shareholder reports, tax filings, and regulatory submissions.
- Oversee accounting and budget preparation and provide ongoing guidance to the Controller to keep them informed and to offer direction.
- Review projections and performance, identifying opportunities to enhance budgeting and strategic planning.
- Analyze economic trends and forecast growth opportunities, including acquisitions, expansion, and capital needs.
- Ensure ALCO and Budget Goal Reports align with Bank objectives, lead quarterly ALCO meetings, and recommend ALM strategies to the Board of Directors.
- Develop, test, and implement policies and procedures pertaining to the maintenance of accurate accounting records and report preparation.
- Lead and oversee financial staff, ensuring compliance with policies and laws while managing daily operations, training, performance evaluations, and team development.
- Demonstrate strong decision-making skills for inquires and approvals within policy guidelines, fostering colleague development through practical learning opportunities.
- Enhance the Bank's public image by engaging in local community, civic and reinvestment initiatives.
- Actively participate in committees and other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to handle pressure, meet deadlines, work in a fast-paced environment and able to prioritize daily work schedule
- Advanced math skills; ability to calculate interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages; balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals ; locate routine mathematical errors; compute rate, ratio and percent, including the drafting and interpretation of bar graphs
- Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills to effectively and professionally interact with customers and colleagues
- Ability to be very organized, detail oriented and operate with a sense of urgency for customers and colleagues when appropriate
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (BBA) in Accounting or Finance or equivalent from a 4-year college or university; 15 years' related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Real Estate Brokers License, formal business school or financial industry related curriculum (eg the Graduate School of Banking), and in-house training preferred.
- Mastered experience, knowledge, and training in financial statement and tax return analysis typically resulting from a combination of education in accounting, finance, financial analysis, or related areas.
- Mastered experience, knowledge, and training in dealing with contracts and contractual negotiations.
- Mastered knowledge of related state and federal compliance regulations, and other Bank policies.
