CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER (CFO)

A well-established, commercial general contractor based in the Sacramento region is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join their executive team and help lead their next phase of growth. They are known for delivering high-quality projects across a variety of sectors, with a reputation built on integrity, performance, and relationships.

Position Overview:
As CFO, you will play a critical leadership role in shaping the financial future of the company. You will oversee all financial functions including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, strategic planning, risk management, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in the construction industry, a strategic mindset, and a hands-on approach to leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the company's financial operations, including accounting, cash flow, job costing, financial planning, and compliance.


  • Collaborate closely with the CEO and executive leadership team to develop and execute financial strategies that support growth and operational excellence.


  • Monitor performance metrics, analyze financial and operational data, and present actionable insights to stakeholders.


  • Oversee bonding, insurance, and banking relationships.


  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and industry-specific reporting requirements.


  • Implement and improve internal controls, financial systems, and processes to drive efficiency and mitigate risk.


  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, working closely with project teams to align projections with project lifecycles.


  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and development to the accounting/finance team.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MBA strongly preferred.


  • 10 years of progressive financial leadership experience, with at least 3 years in the commercial construction industry.


  • Deep knowledge of construction accounting, WIP reporting, and job costing.


  • Strong strategic thinking and communication skills.


  • Proven track record of leading financial teams and partnering with operations to drive business results.
